Looking for CFB with vvs clarity and very good quality overall. 1-2ct at ~$1500-2000/ct. any recommendations or feedback appreciated. Looking at the gem price guide from the international gem society, this seems reasonable. Now to find a dealer who might be able to offer such.

There is a “sticky” thread with a list of vendors, I’d recommend checking it out.

Gemfix has a large inventory of nicely cut stones, frankly even with a designation like “cornflower” there is a wide range of color differences. I’d give some examples of sapphires that caught your eye.

Try Inken at Enhoerning Jewelry.

Heated or no heat?

Do know that "cornflower blue" is very nonspecific. I googled actual cornflowers and loved that color for a sapphire. Lotus-confirmed cornflowers seem quite pale -- it is just one step above "pastel" in their nomenclature. A Dunaigre-confirmed cornflower was very dark and pretty much at the royal blue point.

I think of cornflower being medium-toned and maximum saturation but I think everyone's interpretation is different. I've heard it derided as pedestrian (dime-a-dozen) and elevated as aspirational (ooh a real cornflower!).

Medium tone, maximum saturation is very much what I am going for. Does the gem above meet this?

I think your budget is a little slim because sapphires face up small because they are deep.

1.07 is going to be very small.

This is about a 1.65 unheated sapphire with a .56 and a .58 crafted by infinity diamond.

I’d also check diamonds by Lauren.

Thoughts on the actual stone?

The natural sapphire company Is not on our preferred list Of recommend vendors.

For up to $3k is there a vendor you can recommend for a medium tone, max saturation sapphire?

It’s hard right now because of covid.

check finewater gems, diamonds by Lauren, gem fix; etc.

just go through the list of vendors and check out their blue sapphire offerings.

There is no way to know from a photo or phone videos. The tiniest bit of automatic in-camera processing is the difference between a meh sapphire and 20 likes on this forum, imo.

If you are willing to buy from an individual, I would recommend contacting @arkieb1 on Loupe Troop. I purchased an unheated sapphire from her that was called cornflower blue by Lotus Lab. The sapphire in the below link is heated, but it”s worth reaching out to her to see if she has something that could work for you.
Another selling you could try is Mike at GranGem. He has more inventory than you’ll see online, so just let him know what you’re looking for and your budget.

hi, just to provide a comparison for you. i recently purchased a pair of sapphires for my earrings. they were rated "cornflower blue" by lotus. one is 7.1mm (1.95ct), the other is 6.98mm (1.52ct). they face up like a 1.3ct well-cut round diamond.

they are heated, from ceylon, and cost more than the top end of your range.IMG_6892.JPG

Yes, the Natural Sapphire Company isn’t recommended here mainly because the prices are higher than others. That said, if they have a sapphire you adore and you’re happy with the price, why not.
and yes 1.07 carat is small in a sapphire. They are a dense gem and often have a belly (that carat weight you can’t see face up).
This is a 1.13 cushion cut ruby on a size 7.5 finger so you have an idea of scale.A90FFB10-7D0C-444E-AECE-7E962A05100E.jpeg

Sorry, as for the particular sapphire you posted.
nice cutting and lovely gem but it seems to have a lot of violet tone in it (not necessarily a problem) and it may darken when set. I don’t think, when set, it will have enough “vivid” to offset its deeper tone.

can you pls provide some examples of what cornflower means to YOU?

This thread might help you to determine the colour you prefer: https://www.pricescope.com/communit...r-blue-sapphire-finds-post-here.242325/page-3

I would recommend Gemfix as a vendor. It’s really difficult to buy a sapphire online in my opinion.
Evaluating sapphires online is really hard for me. Light box videos are so hard — a stone that looks nice in one of those will almost always be too dark. You need to ask for a ton of photos and videos in different lighting. Indoors, natural light and outdoor
