This is the fourth try at a setting for this stone and the process was a bit of a bugger, but am very happy with the end result. I went to a local estate jeweler to see if they had any deco style mountings and they didn't, but they knew of a guy in LA who makes old style settings. They had one mount as an example to show me and I said "yes" with a change to a single instead of split-shank. Very hands off approach for me, which is unusual. I see imperfections in this ring and I don't even care because the detail is so beautiful to me. I love the carving and millgrain, the finger coverage is perfect, and I think it showcases the stone. So relieved to be wearing it again.

What a colour!!! And what a beautiful ring. Very refined and elegant with a blinding pop of colour. Great choice.
I love the detailing of the setting, including the kitten pawn prongs.

Beautiful!!! Enjoy!! You're making me want to set mine. Such a nice spring colour! :)

That is gorgeous. You absolutely nailed it! Beautiful color, and it certainly looks like a bespoke piece made for that stone. I have a tsavorite ring, but you just made me envious - love it. (um that's me being jealous and not some bad juju or anything, lol!)

Love the colour of the stone, thanks for sharing!

DK

Wow, that's the perfect green color I am looking for a long long time. I love both the stone and setting.

So beautiful! Well done.

Congratulations on getting the right setting!

A nice tsav is one of my favorite stones...yours is beautiful and so glad you found the "right" setting to show it off!

Congratulations! Beautiful!

It's beautiful, green is my favourite colour!

Beautiful colour!! The setting is stunning too.

Hi,

I love your ring. How big is the tsavorite? It looks big. Nice finger coverage.

kgiso: its time for you to come back and take your curtain calls! With more pics hopefully :cheeky:

It came out beautiful. Looks to be a very large tsavorite, do you mind sharing the carat weight or mm size?

My eyes could swim in that green all day!

Must have missed this thread somehow yesterday but I am glad to see it today. It's a lovely ring. What happened with the other 3 tries at setting it? Do you mind sharing more info about the tsavorite?

Absolutely stunning!

Wow, just wow

Thank for the kind words. I'm happy to share it with people who get as excited about jewelry and gems as I do.

To answer your questions:
It is 8.9 x 8.1 mm, maybe 3.27 carats. I can't remember the exact weight because during the setting process for the 3rd mount it was nicked on the crown and had to be repolished which resulted in a little weight loss. Ugh.
The first setting had a wide shank. My knuckles have started to swell and it isn't as comfortable anymore. The second setting was a halo style, and it was set much too high. The jeweler agreed to remake, but the CAD guy reduced the size of the melee for whatever reason so it didn't turn out right.
If I missed one of your questions by accident please let me know and I'll answer.

It was *finally* sunny here today so I have another pic. As you all know, photographing the green stones is really hard.
