Hello,

I stumbled on this lot of Tsavorite but am new to color stones. Im thinking of setting these into a bracelet but afraid they may be too dark? Please share your Tsavorite if you have any. TIA.

I initially found the ring very dark. Seller was adamant it wasn’t. They offered me a full refund but I kept it anyway. I receive A LOT of compliments for it in real life. I think the perfect colour would be the colour of the halo stones outside.

Photos are tricky. Compare the photo in the gem case with the photo on the felt. Would you recognize them as the same stones? That said, the dark centres (e.g, in the photo on the felt) worry me.

Here are mine:

I like the stones in pinky ring and the middle ring on the ring finger - they are clean mid-toned green over most of the face. IMO, the rightmost is a bit too dark. But some people like 'deep flashes'. In the snake ring, the head is a Mali garnet. The stones in the tail are lighter, almost neon tsavorites. They go very well with yellow gold.

I agree with @mellowyellowgirl. The halo stones are wonderful. Note the slightly blueish green (compared with the green green of mine), I believe this is favoured by connoisseurs.

For me, yes. Tsavorite is one of the rare exceptions where my preference deviates from trade ideal color. I like a medium tone (5) and vivid saturation (6). It's somewhat tricky to find, as tone and saturation often go hand-in-hand, and tsavs are the prime example of that. That being said, the industry's consensus is that a medium-dark tone (6) is most desirable. I think some of the stones you shared tick that box. The stones in the last couple of photos, however, appear to be more of a dark tone (7). Happy hunting!

The stone in the middle on your ring finger is utter perfection, IMO. The one to the right of it is probably what design houses would consider ideal.

Here is mine (a little over 2.5ct, I believe)... it's as neon as I've ever seen (though it does contain a low-relief feather off to one side). I bought it from a PS member who pretends he doesn't retail.

This is mine, probably less saturated in colour compared with the trade ideal.

However, I prefer that as I can appreciate the cut (by Jeff White) better.

Is that a rose gold bezel, DK? I was going to set mine in yellow, but now you have me reconsidering! :kiss2:

Yup, it is RG - you have very good eyes!

I started using RG for the bezel with a blue Zircon and it worked very well.

Yes, these are dark. That tropical sunlight makes everything look brighter, so if they look this dark, they probably are darker in real life.

Dark-colored Tsavorite, similar to the one circled in the group photo. This type is very dependent on the angle of light, and only looks good when facing the light directly, while high-quality color Tsavorite looks good from all angles.
