Hi all. Newbie here. Great site. With alot of nice people. And alot of helpful info. I am in the market for a 2 to 3ct stone. My first one. I realize prices start to skyrocket in that range. And vary depending on the stone's overall quality, etc, etc. I have narrowed it down between two reputable Tsavorite dealers. Paraiba International. And Lapigems. I have spoken to both. And they were both very helpful and friendly. I just like to know if anyone had any experience buying Tsavorite from them. And why you would recommend one over the other. All things being equal. I think Paraiba International might be a little on the high side. I hope i am allowed to say that. If not, please accept my apologies. Don't mean no disrespect or criticism in any way. Would appreciate any info. Thanks!

No apologies necessary, you can say that here. Oh yes, and welcome!
I have not bought from them but others have and been quite happy with them.
Coincidental it may be but I was just updating the On Sale thread with the news that PI is having a sale. You may find the stone you are interested in marked down now.

:) Thanks! Will look into that. Hopefully someone will chime in on, what they thought of their Tsavorite's from them.

Welcome! You're in the right place for info. If you do a search on this forum for both vendors, you'll find posts about people's experience with them. Good luck -- hope you find the fab tsavorite!

Primagemsusa.com has tons of tsavorites as well. He's awesome to deal with, and much of his stock isn't on his site. I've heard great reviews about ParaibaInternational and Lapigems as well.

Thanks all for the info. Will take my time in deciding. Being a newbie, i am trying to learn as much as i can. I have been reading alot about extinction. That it's usually from poor cutting, could be the stone itself, etc, etc. But what i don't understand. Unless i am seeing things. I don't think i have seen pictures of any stones, except maybe a few. That don't have it to some degree. Kind of making me nervous.
I am assuming, especially when it comes to high priced stones. That reputable dealers would be more inclined not to sell stones with noticeable extinction. Being a newbie, i must be missing something here.

Nope, reputable dealers will still sell stones with all kinds of cut issues, regardless of the price bracket. That's why it's important to familiarize yourself with gems before making a big purchase.

Reputable, by PS definition, means that the vendor is honest and has good customer service. The vendor has a good review period, return and refund policy. It is safe to purchase from the vendor, the vendor will stand by their product if found to be damaged or whatever else and will not run away with your money. It does not mean that all the stones in inventory is of high quality. Vendors will stock gemstones of varying quality and price brackets so there will be great stones and not so great stones. Many would love the opportunity to help you select the right tsavorite so pictures and questions are most welcome.
