With DK designs I notice that so many people post pics of his cads and they are these really detailed 3-D drawings. But does he also include cads that look like the picture below? I’ve only done one custom project before and that’s the type of CAD I received which while on one level is far less detailed, it enables me to better visualize what the ring will look like. Just wondering bc I’m interested in working with him on a project.

I find your example so much easier to envision - I would take that any day over the mono or bi-tone images I’ve been looking at ;-)

No just the cads.

DK does not offer 3D, as far as I know. But they also don't charge for revisions and additional CADs.

Hmmm. The above example isn’t mine. Mine was a pendant and I can’t find the pics anymore so just googled something. But there was more than one 3D (I still called it Cad maybe I’m wrong) before we settled on the right one without charging more. Good to know he won’t either bc I didn’t know that was a thing! I will have to do my best to use my imagination.

I sometimes wonder if the ones that look ‘just like’ the finished piece can be a bit misleading, I can think of at least two pricescopers who have been disappointed by the end result of a finished piece by a favoured vendor, in one case the diamonds in the halo looked a lot smaller than they imagined and in the other the finished ring was much more delicate than they had envisaged. You might have to work harder with the more basic cads to understand what you will be getting, but is that necessarily a bad thing?

Not at all! And I know one of the threads you are talking about because I stumbled across it the other day when I was researching cads. I guess if you are used to one way and then change to another it can be daunting and you want to be able to visualize the piece as much possible before sending it off to be made!

In a typical DK cad, the top right panel has the 3D view.

Again didn't think charging for additional drawings if you didn't like the first was a "thing". Yikes! Are you working on something now @bright&shiny ?

Edit - I see that you are. Wow that Opal looks amazing!
I am but just can’t figure out how I want the opal set. Nothing feels quite right. And then I picked up some tiny spinel and orange sapphire melee- and a beautiful emerald cut peridot from the inimitable @mrs-b ... But first-I really want to set the opal. And it needs to be warm enough yo get it in the mail to David Klass! Burrr
