Type of ring/ring shopping

I need a bit of guidance on the ring shopping front. I've been thinking really hard lately about what type of ring I want. A little background on me: I've been engaged before, a few years ago with big 2ct solitaire as my Ering. I loved it at first but realized it was not me and hardly wore it because I would knock it or be going somewhere where I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing it. I was engaged for a year and a half before breaking it off. I am also a graphic designer and am a fan of the non-traditional. My SO has also already given me a plain platinum pre-engagement ring.

This time around, I would love a beverly K or Fay Cullen wedding band as an engagement ring. Something so practical and something I would feel comfortable wearing every day. I feel like, for me, a 2ct diamond is wayyy to excessive for me - being excessive is strictly against my religion. Funny thing is - budget is not an issue. I'm not even sure what kind of answer I am looking for - just general feedback on this issue. Do I sound crazy?

I don't think you sound crazy at all. There are no absolute rules on what an engagement ring can or can't be. Some people don't even get one at all, and from reading other threads around here, simple bands are the norm in a lot of European countries. If it's practical, and you're comfortable with it, and you love it, then why not?

I have an awesome wedding set, but because of my job, I almost never wear it. I probably wear it less than 50 times a year to be honest. Instead I wear a $30 titanium band most of the time. If you want something that's more practical that allows you to wear it all the time, then by all means go for it! As the PP said, there are no rules about this kind of thing! Get what you love!
