Hello,

I really have many more questions to ask as I'm embarking upon my eternity band project - but for anyone who has a U-prong style setting eternity band, have you had issues with it? I do have two young kids and in that way I'm active with my hands, and doing dishes a lot. but i'd likely not wear it at home when im doing stuff and would take it off for dishes or gym etc.

do u think its still an okay choice for setting?

thanks,

I have a u prong eternity that I chipped 3 diamonds on, if you are active then I wouldn't do a full eternity

What size stones are you talking?

Ok, I guess that's not good to hear. what is the size of the stones? I think I still would want a full eternity but maybe have to consider another setting style...

thanks, I read over this. I see the reason for some caution with this setting type though this would be like double the carat weight of my band, in the 3 carat-ish range which im sure makes it more vulnerable to issues.

Type of metal used may have been an issue as well.

I have a 3/4 .15 point each uprong eternity band from Brian Gavin. I’ve had no issues with it. I’ll wash a few dishes with it but I do take it off before I cook dinner and do a big cleanup. I also don’t have too adjust it too much to keep only the diamonds showing. I wanted the option of being able to resize it later if I wanted to. I love mine..

Ok that’s not too far of from .20. So hopefully if I did that route I would be ok. I do have two young kids so have to be careful with carrying them or groceries etc dishes and just take it off when I know I would be active

Honestly..my life is crazy..I don’t baby it. I carry groceries..walk my dog and do whatever I need to do. I just take it off to wash dishes and cook because I don’t want food to get in it...I keep my jewelry really clean so that the only reason I take it off.

Awesome this makes me feel better. I think I will just callmy jewelry insurance and make sure it will carry good coverage on any issues that I could have, and I’ll get it insured. That way I’m sort of safe!

I have an eternity with 20pt RBs - WF’s Annette style, which is a Uprong. I’ve had a couple of loose stones.

Mine’s platinum. Don’t use platinum. My older eternity had 15pt stones in 14k Ni/WG (ACA RBs in the same setting style from WF) and never had issues. I love this style but regret choosing platinum - if I were to do it again, which I just might one of these days, I would choose the same 14k unplated WG I had before!

I personally like the shared prong setting - I think it's more secure than U-Prong. 14kt WG should be fine.

Reach out to ID Jewelry and let them know you're a PSer. They usually send out videos or pictures to compare sizes and different settings. Prices are great too!

Quite quite pretty both of them. Both sizes look nice on you. And you didn't have problems with the white gold one? That is what I plan to get, WG.

I do notice in the .15 size stone the prongs are more at the edges of the diamonds showing the roundness of the stone less, and the .20 the prongs are closer in to the middle showing the RB stones more. which do you like better? the style im looking at has the prongs setter closer to the way your 15 pointer looks.

My wedding/engagement ring is a platinum u prong 0.25 pointer eternity band made with MRB’s from ID jewellery in NYC. I have had this ring since the end of 2013, and worn it daily. I take it off to work (as I mainly work with my hands) for cooking and cleaning. I did think that I had chipped a stone once, but on closer inspection with a x20 magnification and sending it for inspection it was a-ok! I have not had a single problem with my ring and I love it now just as much as when I first opened that fedex box!

That’s great to hear. If Love to see it if you have a pic. IDJ has been a consideration of mine but I just haven’t committed one way or another to a jeweler. I’m a little confused. Maybe I should give them a call again.

Hi @kimf79 I hope these help.
Sorry for the less than perfect iPhone pics, weather is terrible here in the uk at the moment (surprise surprise!) I’ve taken photos with bathroom lighting showing how low the setting is to the finger which is what I specifically asked for

You're right on! I did ask for the prongs to be a little more pinched in the band with the 20pointers. I confess I do prefer the slightly more pinched shape with the slightly larger stones as it allows you to really see the "roundness" IRL, but I think I'd be quite happy with either style ::)

This is a gorgeous Eternity ring. Love the low profile. Do you know the height of your ring - how far your ring sits from your finger? I am curious because I like how yours looks. My jeweler sent me the CAD and the measurements. He says that the height of ring from finger will be about 2.5 mm to 2.75 mm. I am hoping that its not too uncomforatable.

This was my ring and although it was absolutely beautiful- I will never again do a u-prong style. I have a shared prong basket eternity band w/ .10s (2 tcw) that I have worn since I was married 12 years ago and don’t have an major issues. In fact my first loose stones were just this year. That band is from facets collection.

My advice go with a shared prong basket setting and kelps the stones .10-.15 if you want a “hassle free” eternity band. However, understand that a true hassle free band is all metal;)

Hi @GardenLady21, I don’t have callipers and it doesn’t say on the receipt. I’ve tried measuring, just with a ruler and it’s between 2.75 and 3 mm heigh. My stones are 0.25 carats each. The height of your ring depends not only on the setting, but the carat weight too.

Would you mind posting a pic? I’ve had my eye on this exact ring.

I have a few pics that I took previously. If you need more pics or side views let me know. The last I checked they had .05’s but I asked for .15’s. That’s a very comfortable size for me because it does go around the sides of my finger. I wanted the option of resizing later if I needed to.
