These are the pearls I got from The Pearl Outlet.
I like them.

But, the connectors are held on by like, NO METAL and it doesn''t look safe to wear! See pictures.

What do I do????????????????????

These are the best pictures I can get..

What does everyone think of the color? They are very even and very purple with some blemishes..

That is a poorly made jump ring - that circle of metal that connects the french wire to the clasp should be a nearly perfect circle. I''m guessing that this might come from changing the clasp after the necklace was knotted - usually you thread a perfectly formed jump ring through the french wire, but if the necklace is already knotted, you''ve got to make one with pliers.

Your pictures show this perfectly, and I''d email your concerns and pics to TPO. I wouldn''t feel safe with that kind of jump ring either.

I''ve been told I can be kind of picky.. so I wasn''t sure if it was just me.. or what??

I will email them!! Thank you for your quicky reply :)

Crap it didn''t go through?? What is the email that anyone has for them? I sent it to [email protected] and it was sent back.

Ahhhhhhh! Dramz!

Hi SB,
TPO is not very good with responding to emails - I found this out the hard way when I emailed them instead of calling when I made a mistake with my address (I''d just moved). Please call them. You''ll get an immediate response and resolution to your problems.

Sorry about the connectors.

OK, I will call again... I called and was put on hold- they said the wait time was 2 mins, was on hold for 4 mins before it said they weren''t open anymore!!! arhhh.

Deep breath

Yes, that is a sort of crappy jump ring. But, I have complete confidence that Terry and co. will do right by you.

I think they are fine to wear, in the meantime.

I have noticed that they tend to photograph their pearls (esp OOAK strands) strung but w/o clasps, maybe this contributes to what Cellentani mentions?

No matter what, no need to worry! Terry has always been great in my experience, and I am sure it will work out. Keep in mind that IMO these are pretty small companies, so there are a few bumps to go over (I had a few times that things in the sale looked "for sale" but were, in fact, sold out) but it is worth it in the end to me to get pearls from people who care about them, and I would rather work with them/PP/Sheperd brothers than anyone else online, by far.

Good luck, keep us posted!

PS wow those are some monster pearls! Congrats, what a great piece!

They are 10.5mm-11.5mm .. the size is great and they are heavy!

And yes, I started to panic.

I will relax because there is nothing I can do about it right now

Nice!! Man I better not look too much or my 8mms will start to shrink!! PSS will start to be as prevalent as DSS. Here I thought my 8s were going to be luxurious

I can just about promise things will work out, and WEAR those babies in the meantime!!! If they break, they break, and at most you lose one pearl. Enjoy!!

Those are some very beautiful luxurious looking pearls. Do you have any neckshots? , yeah, I''d be a little worry myself with it coming open.

Yes, I suppose TPO is closed for the weekend, but when I had issues with a necklace from them, I emailed [email protected], and within 24hrs, John (customer service manager?) called me to discuss the issue. He had looked at the photos I''d attached in my email, and was very sincere in trying to make me a happy customer, and never tried to make excuses. If you get an unsatisfactory response from someone else, you should call and speak to him, and let him know that you were referred by another PS member. Keep us posted!

Well I got a PHONE CALL TODAY (wow!) .. I didn''t know the number so I just ignored it. It was the general manager giving me a call. He left a voicemail and also sent me an email. They are allowing me to send it back for repair- and they are paying for shipping and all of that.

I am super bummed that I have to send it back in the first place, but excited that it''s going to get done. I am impressed with their customer service. I will shop with them again!

That must be John! How terrific that they''re going to take care of this for you - I was impressed with their customer service as well. Please post some pics when you get it back!

I think that in the concern over the workmanship of your necklace, we never addressed the color - are you happy with it?

Well, let me first say, I don''t know a bunch about pearls, other than there are differnt colors, types.. sizes :)

I''ve always LOVED tahitian pearls though- the ones with the peacock look to them. I saw these for the deal of the day and thought "ooh, black pearls, I"ve always wanted some.. and the size! how fun"

When I got them, I did like them. I think of them as more of a fun piece to wear with jeans and a t-shirt. I still would like to grab some tahitians, but for now, these will do. I never thought about them being "bleached or dyed" which I''m assuming they are?? The color is very pretty though- they are the color of a shirt that used to be black but has faded some, with a purple gloss to them (I don''t know the word, sorry). THe clasp is nice too, but it''s not really that heavy and seems almost cheap.. but it''s an extremely safe one! I did like that quite a bit.

I sent the pearls out last night (actually, FI did and he said he 2nd day airmailed them-- hahaha) so I am hoping to get them sooner than later.

I think I''ve decided to do pearls for my wedding jewelry as well, so I will really need help on those too (I have time though).
