I don't want to come across like I'm promoting one specific vendor, so admins, please feel free to delete if you think this post is inappropriate.
However, a friend of mine recently had a job done by a company that does electroplating (gold, silver plating) and also has their own jewellery line. I'd like to post her story that she originally posted on FB (with her blessing). If any of you are in the UK and ever are in need of electroplating services, please check out this company. I haven't used them personally so can't speak as to the product quality or type of design, etc. but I strongly feel that their kindness should be shared and known. Thanks.
Suzanne:
"The incredible kindness of strangers... Some of you may know I went to Germany in mid-January for the funeral of my nephew Benedict; he was just 22, it was a horrifying, heart-destroying thing; and after the service I realised in my left hand, I was still clutching one of the leaves from the single rose we each placed in his grave. I put the leaf in my purse with no real idea why I even kept it. But on the flight back home, I thought: I wonder if I can find someone who would silver-plate it, turn it into a pendant for my sister.
I found CIR Electroplating, based in Plymouth, and they said they could do it, giving me an initial quote of £60 plus VAT. They would call when it was ready, and take payment over the phone... The call came this morning. To my stunned, tearful surprise, the company CEO rang me personally to tell me that Bene's silver plated rose leaf would reach me tomorrow ~ and that there was no charge, because they were so moved by the profound loss my sister and our family have suffered.
The world might often seem like a dark, terrible place, but every now and then, a light shines through and reminds us that there are still good people and much to be thankful for.
This is the company, if you ever have any need for the services they provide, please do use them. I am staggered by their kindness, their compassion and empathy."
