Hello!

I found a lovely little loose diamond that I think I am going to buy. It is currently does not have a GIA report. I love it so much I want to get it regardless, as I have seen photos and videos and I just like it how it is. I am not worried about any “surprises”, because it is not expensive, and it’s more of a “fun” purchase than a “big deal heirloom” piece.

However, all my diamonds so far have a GIA report. I like collecting diamonds and I love having a report for each one, just so I *know* what it is.
The vendor is a popular PS vendor and they sell lots of diamonds and colored stones that come with GIA reports. I want to get a report for this little diamond.

My question is, would it be better for me to ask the vendor to get a GIA report, or should I get the diamond in my hands and send it to the GIA myself? This is the first time I have encountered this and I’m not sure what the best case senario is, or how easy it is to send it to the GIA myself.

Just a reminder, I love the diamond regardless, and my purchase is not contingent on having the GIA report. I just like having all my duckies in a row and I would love to know the specs of the diamond. In the words of Ariana Grande “I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it”. :)

My recommendation is that you offer to pay the expense of the report and shipping to and from GIA and pay for the diamond up front.

You want the diamond no matter what the diamond report says and it will cost the vendor less than it will cost you.

That way the vendor has his money for the diamond and will recoup his costs on the report.

It would seem to be a fair way to handle it to me.

I agree with this. Have the vendor send for it and pay them for the diamond and the report. It'll probably be easier if the vendor who is probably already used to sending things to GIA does it instead of you, also.

Awesome! Thank you so much @Wink ! That’s just the help I was looking for.

Cool! Makes perfect sense. I will do that. Thank you!
