For those who have been married or who are at the very tail end of the wedding planning stage, what were your unforseen or emergency expenses? Did you have an emergency fund in your budget? If so, what was the percentage in your budget? What do you feel is wise?

I kept around 500-1000 available in the end we did use some of the 500 but definitely not a whole 1000. Mostly it was on little things I forgot and any extras we needed.

We budgeted about $1K for "emergency/last minute funds." It has actually helped me with budgeting, because we get to spend it on a DoC (which I really want) if we sill have it left over. But, I am also willing to pay for convenience much more as the date approaches, so I also think a little extra is great for that reason, too.

I currently have about 10% of what has currently been spent as emergency funds (about 5K). My Mom and FI thought it was a too much, but I''d rather have extra money left over after the wedding rather than scramble to pay for last minute stuff. Something tells me I''ll be using it to pay for my ever growing guest list.

We didn''t really have any last minute expenses-I love planning so everything was kind of planned down to the last detail so we''d budgeted for pretty much everything.

It wasn''t for emergencies, but I tried to set some aside for expenses on things I WANTED but didn''t really need. I wasn''t sure if I''d be able to get my dress steamed, but I did and that cost $70 (but was a waste ultimately) and then I got a pedicure even though I didn''t need one (closed toe shoes). The only last minute money that I spent unexpectedly were on an ink cardtridge for the printer I used to print our programs, plus some craft supplies for that (paper cutter, hole punch) and an extra plate since our priest decided he could come to the reception.

I have about 4k in our emergency funds and we are most likely going over that. Transportation costs were much higher than we expected.

Ditto. I did have about $500 set aside on the off chance something came up, but we didn''t need it so we rolled it over into the honeymoon.

And don''t forget tip money...that''s what I''m trying to figure out now.

I had to buy a lot of last minute stuff like gift bags, bows, tissue paper, ribbon, extra paper for various things....it can add up and you don''t realize a lot of this stuff until you are in the middle of it.

We set aside about 5k for last minute guests (pay for extra cake, champagne, etc); any tips that come up; additional expenses (I forgot to buy the flower girl tiara and then I accidentally sat on it and had to buy another one)...

If we don''t use it, it will just go into our home improvement fund.
