I am helping a friend search for an ering, and I need some help! I tried doing a search but maybe I was using the wrong terms?

Looking for something nontraditional, and not too terribly expensive.

She LOVES a lot of the stuff at Clay-pot.com, does anyone know of a similar place with similar unique designers?

She has also considered some Etsy pieces.

Anything goes-gemstones, bands, whatever.

Thanks!

i would start with whiteflash.com bc they have tons of settings that come in different types of styles. When you say nontradtional do you mean no diamond soliataire ring? And also, what kind of budget does she have? thanks, more info would mean more answers

What type of budget are we taking? You may be suprised at what you can get online with a small budget! I have seen some gorgeous rings where the OP has thought they would get a lot less.

Sorry to be vague! I would say as low as possible...like under $1000? Thanks guys!

For around the $1k mark, so could get a small stone, about 0.4ct and have it set in a simple wgold setting, or you could get a diamond band? Less traditional and look fabulous!

I think facets have a lot of diamond bands too?

There are so many options, maybe you could narrow down your idea and we can work from there.

Well, I love those ideas but I think she is thinking more unique. Clay Pot has a bunch of smaller designers who have pretty nontraditional styles.

I know she likes nature-type designs, leaves, etc. if anyone has seen anything like that?

I might be biased because I love vintage rings, but I always feel like it''s the perfect solutoin for somebody who wants something uinque, original and a bit more elaborate than a solitaire.

I love this 1920''s ring:

Also, I think if she chose her favorite Clay Pot setting she could have a jeweller recreate it and use a sapphire instead of a diamond.

I''m also a huge fan of eternity bands for something beautiful on a budget.

The other place I would consider is Greenlake Jewelers if she likes Clay Pot stuff Linky

They have a ton of more organic feeling rings and they are pretty reasonably priced too.

Here are some unique rings

Etsy.com also has a lot of handmade pieces...there is a thread on that in one of the forums right now. There are some rose cut diamonds and gems that are bezel set and look very natural. Let me see if I can find them...

Ok here is the seller... http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_gallery_1&listing_id=17837461

Here are some more interesting ones...

Also, you said she likes organic stuff like leaves... she could try searching for some art nouveau antique rings. There were one or two in that crystal realm link I gave you but there is so much more out there. The art nouveau period was very organic and natural.

Peter Torraca referred me to this jeweler/metalsmith/gemologist Carrie Nunes a while back, and I have been sorely lacking in the $$$ department, so I didn''t even email her, but I think her work is gorgeous. And I think maybe your friend should try looking at her stuff... (And I adore that her website is the metalpetalworkshop.com!)

Thanks a ton everyone! I will pass these ideas along, they look great!

Neat-I had forgotten about Greenlake. I loved that e/w marquise they did, but their website is perfect! Thanks!

Freke-her stuff is gorgeous! Have you seen Stuart Nye? She seems influenced by him and I luuurve his stuff.

Also found some cool stuff on the Sundance Catalog website if anyone finds this thread in a search and is looking for ideas!

A few more possibilities:

First Fig (Emerald Ring)- In budget even in platinum!

Golden Sapphire

I'd also point her to the Natural Sapphire Company. A lot of their antique mountings are really reasonably priced, and she might be able to get a ~.50-1 ct sapphire in one for under $1000.

For instance, this mounting is ~$350 in 14k WG:

This link was posted by HotPozzumover in jewellry pieces a few days ago. I don''t know the prices but the rings are amazing.

Wow, lots of very different options!
Kate Szabone is an etsy seller that works in solid gold and nice quality gems (most sellers seem to do gold filled). I think her organic stacking rings with small diamonds or her coloured rose cut diamonds could make a very pretty and original wedding set. There is plenty of info about her on the etsy thread , here.
Also, not sure of your friends taste, but this kinda thing could always be added to/removed from for versatility later on..that would present quite an unconventional and versatile set imho !

Here is a pic of some gold stackers but with white sapphires - I think dimaonds would look fantastic.

And also a pic of the coloured "antique" rose cuts that you can select from for rings..

Also, if she is after an antique or vintage piece (or repro), I come across quite a few nice things on ebay from time to time.
I know how some people feel about ebay, but I have made a nbr of purchases recently that I've been really happy with.

Let me know what to look for an I'll keep an eye out
