I''ve been working on planning the weekend I will be proposing to my gf and I would love to get some reactions/opinions/thoughts from the LIW group.
First a little background. We live in Southern California, we''ve been together for about a year and a half, lived together for 4 months, and despite out busy work schedules, we love to explore new places. We''re going to take a Friday off in March and spend the weekend driving up the California coast, spending 2 nights in Carmel by the Sea. She knows we''re taking this trip but she has no idea what I have planned.
Originally, I was thinking I would propose on that Saturday. But I''ve changed my mind and now think I''d rather propose the first day so that we can fully enjoy the whole weekend and our new status (plus I''m going to be pretty nervous I''m sure). On our drive up the coast, one of the stops we are going to make is at Limekiln State Park. There is a 1/2 mile hike that leads you up to Limekiln Falls, a 100 ft waterfall that cascades down a limestone face (see photos below). Hidden in the backpack I''ll be wearing will be her ring and I''m going to propose to her at the base of the falls.
When we reach Carmel, we''ll be staying at the Tickle Pink Inn, a great inn overlooking the ocean in the Carmel Highlands (see photo below). In addition to the bottle of champagne and chocolates that awaits every guest when they check into their room, I am going to arrange to have rose pedals placed all over our room. In addition to a fabulous view and deck, our room also has a fireplace, so after we celebrate at dinner, we can relax in front of the fire.
On Saturday, besides strolling through the shops and galleries in downtown Carmel, I''ve made reservations to go horseback riding on the sand dunes and bluffs at Pebble Beach. Going riding is something we''ve talked about doing for a long time now. Following our ride, it''s off to our appointment for a couple''s massage at a local spa, followed by dinner.
The great thing is our path home will take us right by the area where her family lives, so we can make a stop to share the news in person on our way home.
Anyway, I''m very interested in hearing what you think. If you have any other suggestions or advice, I''m all ears.
