Ok, one of my fave threads on here is this one [/url] I love to travel and share stories and pics with others.

So DH and I have decided that we''re going to take my other passion, my bug cabriolet, over to the continent for 10 days. We live in Scotland so plan to take a couple of days to drive down to Calais for our ferry stopping in London for a night and catching a show. We haven''t decided on the route we''re going to take once we arrive in Dunkerque (Northern France), do we drive down through France and into Northern Spain, go see my cuz in Switzerland, or take a sharp turn and go into Belgium.........via Antwerp

. So many options to think about, definitely want to go to the Champagne region as DH and I are very partial to a glass of fizz.

So what are you plans for this year, where are you jetting off to?

That sounds like fun. I love a good road trip!

My parents are coming over to visit us (in London from Atlanta) in about a week. We''re spending 4 nights in Paris with them and a couple of day trips - Windsor and I''m not sure where else - and of course, generally hanging about London.

In mid-April to celebrate our anniversary (a bit late but we didn''t want to leave again right after my parents left) we''re taking an in-country holiday. Not sure where yet, maybe New Forest. We picked a bad time with all the flooding, really.

Last year I had too many holidays roll-over and this year I have even more (29 days plus 8 bank holidays plus about 3 that rolled over from last year) so we''ve got to think of some place to go!!

We''re going to Quebec City for our honeymoon but other than that, we have no big trips planned.

I love your car Po!

Hey Po, your trip sounds like a blast and an fun/sporty car too!!!!!

We just got back from our big trip to Paris and Barcelona w/ side trips to Montserrat, Spain and Versailles, France

In 2 1/2 months we are going out to St. Louis and Chicago for about a week. We might go for a few side trips near by but not sure at this moment.

I love your car Po!!! I want one!!!

I am off to Houston in July for a few days, then we are off to Alton Towers and London in September. Then we go to Jamaica at Easter next year!

Po I love your car!

Honestly I''m not usually a fan of the new Beetles but yours is to die for!

BF has just surprised me with a long weekend in Munich. I am hyper hyper hyper excited!!! I used to live there for a year and I love Munich so much. BF and I have been once before, but it was before we were dating and we have hilarious memories of all the flirting that went on

It will be so much fun to go back as a couple!

ooh, lucky you!!!

I''d love to do a roadtrip through Europe!!
I can''t comment on Switzerland or Belguim as I haven''t been yet so I vote for Norther Spain.
Was in Gijon in October for a wedding, and it''s a beautiful city.
Right on the water so depending on when you go, beaches are right at your front door from pretty much any area there. The food is amazing, and I now have daily cravings for Pimentos de Padron (Padron peppers fried in love oil with salt). GET THEM if you go. As it''s not the typical toursity town (only spaniards go there in the summer for the beach), the prices are pretty low for europe.
Whatever you choose though, you''ll have a blast.

This year we''re going to South America. A few days in Sao Paulo, Brazil (have family there) then on to Peru and Ecuador for Machu Picchu and the galapogos.

thank you all for your compliments.

i think we may consider Paris after looking at all the nice photos, i haven''t been in ages.

as for the north of spain, i think we''ll do that next year and perhaps take 3 weeks holiday as we don''t want to spend all our time in the car.

I want to go somewhere but I haven''t decided yet...

are you in the US, OZ, Europe?, do you like winter or summer breaks ? Adventure or relaxation?

Po, what a fun trip! That's going to be great!

We have a couple of quick weekend trips coming up--NYC and DC next month. DH is taking a trip to climb Mt. Hood, King's Peak, Mt. Elbert and a few other peaks over the 4th of July. We are trying to squeeze in a trip to Italy later in the summer and then DH is either going to go to Alaska to climb Mt. McKinley or to Switzerland to climb the Matterhorn. Later in the fall (for our first anniversary) we plan to go to Yosemite to do some rock climbing and make our way over to CA--we're thinking of moving to San Diego, so we want to startt there and drive up the coast and maybe fly out of San Francisco back to Boston. We'd love to make it back to Hawaii in Dec., but it will probably have to wait until early 2009. We simply don't have enough vacation time!

There''s a large chance that I''m going to Australia with D and his family at the end of May/start of June for nearly three weeks. Then myself, D and Amber are going to Kerry for a week and in August, a large group of us are going to my parents house in France to pick wine for the wedding. D and I were initially going to go over by ourselves but all of our friends wanted to go so there''s about fifteen of us going over now (still have to tell my parents that!!). I''m also bringing my car with me which is a convertible-here''s a pic of my baby (well not my exact one but I have this car in black). I love your beetle-it was a toss up between that and my peugeot when I was car shopping!

In May I am going to Cape Canaveral to see my VERY OWN COUSIN go up in the SPACE SHUTTLE!! How CRAZY is that?? I can''t wait!! it''s going to be ff the hook!! We have family coming from all over the country to watch the launch!! WOOHOO!!!

I''m planning a complicated trip that covers Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. I can''t wait!!

Love the car po! What a great photo!!

The FF and I are off to hawaii at the end of April. We are going to Maui and Oahu...I can''t wait!!

Addy - Paris/London, there''s soooo much to do and see and you''ll need to tell us all about it afterwards.

ZoeB - I''ve always wanted to visit Quebec in the winter to watch the boat race across the ice.

Skippy - thanks for the well wishes - you''ve put me in the mood for Paris so we''re thinking of including that in our trip - as for Chicago, I''d love to go, my DH has been and loved it.

Maisie - you''re going to be coming back with goodies too, what an exciting fun trip you''ll have. Alton Towers is always great fun. Jamaica, sounds like heaven to me.

Delster - I love Munich, but now that I can''t drink beer anymore and my ex-fiasco lives there, sadly I won''t be returning for a long time.

Elle_Chris - that wee place sounds lovely and one to keep in mind for our trip next year.........the pimientos sound well yummy, I do love Med food

NELady - you sound soooooo fit. I like looking at mountains, not climbing them.

Bee - I''ve never been to Oz and would love to go as one of my best friends lives out there and I''ve never been to see him and his wife and kids and I miss him. A trip of a lifetime tho so wanna do that in the next 2 years. As for the trip to France.........I think you''ll need to tell your folks soon if there''s going to be 15 of you arriving. Good luck with that

Treysar - When I read your post I was sooooo excited. That sounds amazing. I visited Cape Canaveral a long time ago and loved it, i''m a bit geeky that way. My DH was also suitably impressed with your post. I did point out that I have a few cousins who I''d love to send up in the space shuttle but I think for all the wrong reasons.

Chiapet - that sounds amazing. I''ve never been to that side of the world and would really love to go. DH and I are hoping that we can visit Japan one day, preferably en route to Oz.

I''m really glad I started this thread, i just love hearing where people are going, something to look forward to.

Thanks Mintve. I took it last year when it was lovely and sunny beside the beautiful Loch Lomond. You can see in the distance Ben Lomond which the mountain behind which is the start of the Highlands. It really is breathtakingly beautiful there regardless of the weather. The most amazing thing is that its a ten minute drive from my office and at lunchtimes we go have lunch by the Loch. Its very refreshing.

DH and I are big fans of Lost so Hawaii is another place we''d love to visit.

Sometimes the world is too big when holidays are so little.

You''ll definitely have to go over and visit your friend! With the France thing, my parent''s only have the house about five years and they adore showing it off so I''d say that my mother will be delighted to have fifteen people to show it off to
3.gif
I just texted her as she''s over there at the moment so I''ll see what she says!!

We are heading to Turks and Caicos in April... only a month away!! I love the Caribbean but my family always tends to go back to our favorite island (St. John in the USVI) so I''m really excited about exploring somewhere new! It will be DH and I, his parents, and mine. The trip was planned to celebrate FIL''s 60th bday, but it is also my parents'' 30th anniversary and DH''s 30th bday, so we have lots to celebrate. Plus I''ll be about 15 weeks pregnant by then, so I''m just keeping my fingers crossed that the 1st trimester morning sickness and fatigue will have ended and my normal appetite will be back for all the yummy restaurants.

Where are you staying in Indonesia? Sounds like a fun trip!

My almost husband and I are going on our honeymoon in May!! We have one night in Hong Kong where we want to go to a really nice restaurant (any suggestions from the world travelers about where to eat?). Then we are going to Bali for 8 nights! We are staying in Ubud for 5 nights (http://www.theviceroybali.com/html/en/index.html) then 3 nights in Seminyak on the beach (http://www.thesamayabali.com/). Our plans right now are to shop, eat at great restaurants, ride elephants through the jungle, ride horses on the beach, visit temples and the volcano, and go out on a boat. I am so excited I can''t wait!

My husband and I went to Vancouver, BC yesterday, for the day

We're planning a trip to Vegas in the spring. We eloped there 10 years ago and thought it'd be fun to celebrate our anniversary there.

We'll also be going to California in the summer. We had a great vaca last year and would love to visit family down there again in August.

This year is all about moving for us- we moved from Florida to North Carolina last month, and this fall we will be DRIVING across the country to our new house in San Diego. Since it''s a 2600+ mile drive, we plan on seeing the country along the way, stopping in places like the Grand Canyon & in Las Vegas to see family. It should be interesting!

MC,
My husband and I also eloped in Vegas. We Rented a Mustang Convertable and did a drive thru wedding.. Was tons of fun.
We''ve been back for anniversaries once since then. Thinking of going for a few days again In August to celebrate our 4th :)

We are planning a BIG trip for the fall - our honeymoon combined with my ''try to get to the places that I really want to see before starting a family'' trip!

We''re talking about doing an ''around the world'' trip in October maybe. Delta Airlines and their partners have a Skymiles reward that covers up to six stops (or ''gaps'' - ie: fly into Paris and out of Rome, etc.). My dad travels like crazy and so always has a billion or so travel points - he''s offered to let us use his Skymiles to book this trip - in First Class!

I''m so busy with wedding planning and such right now that we haven''t done much trip planning, but some of the places that are on our list of ''maybes'' in terms of stops would be: Paris, Rome, Istanbul, Cairo, Cape Town (I''ve lived there and have good friends there so would like to stop there), Mauritius, Dubai, somewhere in China (I have a conference outside of Shanghai in October so we may work this in), Vietnam (although FI has a peanut allergy, so all of southeast Asia is a bit high stress for him), Tahiti, and maybe New Zealand (I''ve lived there also and have good friends there). We''re open to other suggestions!

You can bet that I''ll be back asking for some trip planning advice when we finally get around to planning!!

I love the Pobug! Have a great trip Po!
Me and bf are going on a cruise to the Bahamas in May. I''m so excited because we''ve never been on a cruise and a vacation is much needed!

Any cruise advice/tips/pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Nothing too exciting here! My daughter and I went to NYC in January to check out a college, and we just got back from Hawaii last week checking out another college. She chose the one in Hawaii, so I''ll be taking another trip out there in August to get her settled in.

Other than that, I don''t have anything else planned as my hubby is deployed to the middle east through the end of the year...

planned so far is leave for Walt Disney World tomorrow for 5 days and then in May we go to Tuscany & Rome for about 10 days.
Should be a West Coast trip sometime in June as well . . not planned yet

We are traveling almost every month. Going to visit family in WI next week. Cabo in April (!!!). Beach in May. Vegas and Ohio in July. Back to WI in August. Busy busy!

Elle_Chris,
Hope you and your husband decide to go back again. It''s so much fun there. . . it''s going to be cooking in August, though. . . lol! My MIL took my kids for the weekend and DH and I almost flew down on Friday, but we priced airfare and on such short notice, it was going to be $1500 just for round-trip airfare for the two of us and we just couldn''t comprehend spending so much and that''s why we headed up to Vancouver instead.
