I had posted last week that I found a jeweler nearby that sold the ring that I''ve been lusting after for so long. And that I was going to go this past Saturday with a friend to look at it. Long story short... there was some miscommunication between she and I and I ended up at one mall in one town (that she had said we were meeting at the night before) and when I called to find out where she was... she was at another mall in the other town about 15-20minutes away. I decided I didn''t have time or patience to meet up with her at the other mall at that point so I said I was going home. Well I decided in the same sentence that I drove 30 minutes in order to look at rings and I was going to LOOK! Even if it was by myself. After getting off the phone with her I called my mom to vent and she met up with me and we looked at rings (probably not the wisest choice because she''s already putting the pressure on about when we''re getting engaged and married and blah blah).

We got to the store and the sales lady was very nice and patient. She said they only carried that designer''s wedding bands not their engagement rings. Well I was upset but we looked at others anyway. OH MY! ALL THE PRETTIES!!!

I decided that I DO LIKE ROUNDS! Congrats ladies you''ve converted a die hard Princess lover!!

I decided that IF I were to get a solitaire princess is the way I''d go but for what I want... ROUND ALL THE WAY!!! I tried one after the other on, and it surprised me that I knew instantly almost "yes" or "no" on each of them.

There was one that both my mom and I fell in love with. It was a 3-stone oval center with half moons on each side and stones in the band. BEAUTIFUL! and surprisingly enough even though it look GINORMOUS (haha not a word but definatly describes it) it looked AMAZING on my tiny little finger. After seeing the price (which the sales lady said the rings that had stones in them were not real diamonds, just placeholders I suppose) I slowly took the ring off and handed back to her... disappointed. I tried a Princess solitaire and a RB solitaire in FlushFit. They were both pretty but didn''t look right on my hand to me, the princess definatly looked better though.

The two that I think I liked best would have never been what I picked in a million years from pictures alone. They are tied for favorites for different reasons. If I can find a pic online that looks similar to either one (forgot to try to get pics at the jewelry store... kicking myself for that one!) I will post links. The first is an antique looking ring that looks very FANCY for my tastes... I''ve seen rings like it and thought that''s just too much for me. Even there in the store when I was about to put it on... I thought "this is just too much for me"... put it on and OMG

it looked perfect. Perfect height of the center stone (do not want a high set stone), it looked amazing... not fancy and overwhelming to my hand at all, actually I think it complemented it. It was quite a bit more than the second choice though.

The second one was also something that I never liked in pictures. It was a round center low profile also. But it had pave'' set diamonds on the sides, knife edge. The pave'' didn''t go half way around the band though like most I''ve seen, it was about 1/4 of the way down, which is perfect for having to get them sized down so small (I think I''m like a size 4). It was simple and beautiful. I never liked pave'' until I put it on... and with this one I also thought that I would hate it once it got on my finger... NOPE!

So... at least it''s started and I know what I like and don''t like.

I showed BF a couple pics of the "antique" style ring that I found (or one similar to it anyway) and he liked it... and the pave one... but from the reaction I think it was the antiquey ring that he liked better. (It costs more though... So who knows)

I''ve been trying to get into the Engagement/Marriage talk with BF. Last night I tried to hint at it... no luck. I pulled out my book that I have with different pictures of ideas that I like and in the very front is the Diana ring I''ve been lusting after for forever (the one I tried to visit) and he asked what I was looking at. I told him "My book". I told him that I decided I want a round stone and not a square anymore. He said I change my mind too much. I said "No I know that''s the shape I want. And I''m sure by the time it actually comes around I will have had PLENTY of time to change my mind SEVERAL more times." (Joking with him of course) He replied with "Probably so because they cost a lot."

So... without actually having an in depth talk I am assuming that my hopes of being engaged before I graduate in May won''t be fulfilled.

I understand that they cost quite a bit (especially to get a really good quality and a really pretty one). Which I have said to many people I would rather wait until we can afford it easily and get what I really want than to just get something to be engaged. But when it doesn''t seem to be on his mind it makes me sad. He buys little things for him all the time that cost a pretty penny (not as much as an engagement ring but could be a good start to a savings for one). He was showing me a poolstick he wanted last night and I told him I would love to be able to get it for him for Christmas but I just couldn''t afford it (it was around $250) Which broke my heart because I would love to get him what he wants but I just can''t do it. He looked disappointed and I said "Maybe I can get it for your birthday." He said he would probably buy it for himself before then. Then I said to myself... Well... that puts the ring off for a while longer!

This waiting business is so frustrating at times. Sometimes I wish I could just plan to buy the ring and put it on my own finger all by myself!

I''m sorry... the nice little update turned into a vent. But at least I get it all out in one post.

Here is a link to a picture of the Antique Style ring that I liked (the one there was a .65ct setting). I think this one might have said platinum but I think the one at the store was white gold... I''m not sure if it''s the same ring but it is VERY CLOSE to the looks of it... gives you ladies an idea anyway.

and I am going to try to post a pic of something similar to the other one that was a round with pave set sides.
