Hi guys,

I have a question.
If you were thinking about upgrading your diamond to a larger size, what size difference would you upgrade to? What would be a noticeable size difference in your eyes?

Example- (Of course, this is not me we are talking about

)

Say, oh, I don''t know, you have a 2.03 G VS1 H&A Branded diamond, would you upgrade to a 2.23 F VS1?
Would that .20 make a huge difference? Would the F color make a huge difference?
Mm to mm, the size would be 8.2 to 8.45-8.5.

Or would you wait and upgrade to a 2.75 or 3.0 at a later time and in the meantime, buy diamond stud earrings or a 4-5 carat bracelet?

Kayla17,

In your position, I'd choose larger earrings as long as you could get them to match your pendant. The current .5 CTW earrings you have are gorgeous (as seen in the photo you posted), but knowing from experience, as mine are the same size, they're great for eveyday wear but could easily be upgraded to a larger size for the weekends or for a nice night out on the town.

Your ring is truely amazing. Don't trade it up! I doubt you'll see the difference in an additional quarter carat of weight and if you went larger you'd be giving up your LEON setting.

Questions: what settings are you considering for the earrings and the bracelet? Which do you think would go best with your most frequently worn jewelery pieces? Two thoughts to consider.

Michelle

Kayla you are insane.

You just got your new ring and that was a 2ce upgraded thing in a span of a few months. Now, a few months later, you want to upgrade AGAIN for only .2mm? Totally not worth it. Plus you may have to re-work your custom setting that you just got!

What does your hubby say? He must be pretty accomodating!

I would cool your jets a bit, WAIT....and upgrade like another 5 years down the line....to something like a 2.75c/3c or so...make it count. Forget the incremental stuff, it will not make you happy because every few months you will be thinking you want 'just a bit bigger'.

And get something else in the meantime.

I thought I was bad but you take the cake!!

Kayla~ Kayla~

I think we all need to try to take Wise-Mara's advice. She talked me into not going for that new 2 - 3 carat diamond.

I actually just got my setting changed.. And I'm in love all over again!

If you're just increasing such a small difference I would think it's better to wait. Because I think very soon.. you'll start feeling unsatisfied and itchy for just a little bit bigger. You obviously have a goal what your own ideal size is going to be... and before you reach that mark, no upgrade will make you happy.. and even if it did.. it will be very shortlived.

I personally love your setting... but if you feel the need for some changes... maybe changing the setting to more diamonds... it will completely change the feel of your entire ring. Plus it will look much bigger, IMO.

Let us know what you decide~~

Leota,

Have you posted any photos of your new ring yet? I'd love to see it. Your jewelery is my favorite. . .the heart ring and the 12 carat bracelet. . .what can I say? VERY YUMMY!

MC, I was sooooo excited to get my "new" ring yesterday, I spent the whole day with "her" .. admiring "her", cleaning "her" ... hahahah...

My Hunnie told me that no one, no one will know how many times I clean my rings and only him.... cuz other people just can't even begin to imagine. I cleaned it right when I got home... cuz it's new.... Then I cleaned it before I showed it to him.... so there's no smudges of my finger oil from trying to view it with all my loupes and scopes (as if I've never done that already when I "first" got the diamond) then I cleaned it at night before I went to sleep to put it back in the ring box. Sounds a little psychotic huh?

So, I will post pics tonight... ~! Just a little idea before they're up, it looks a lot like Caratgirls' ring~~ I love it!

Kayla - wait...I just adore your stone & setting by MM. Get yourself a really cool wide pave band ring for the other hand or something. I'm with the others - give it a few years at least. You know, it's just because of this forum that's making you itchy for a new look.

Leota - can't WAIT to see your new setting, but I just picked up my new setting today

, so it won't quite look the same anymore (but similar). I have to take a photo of it tomorrow to post. It's half a size smaller than before (the ring, not the stone

). Yay, take lots of pictures!

Caratgirl, YOU GOT A NEW SETTING?!

When did this happen? Did you talk about it and I somehow missed it?????? When I first joined PS, I saw your old setting and new setting in some other threads... and I was just in looooove with the way your ring came out.

Actually, I saw the old setting first... and you were talking about changing setting... at that time I was think ... it's a nice setting .. why would you want to change it?! Then I saw the NEW one! Loved it! Loved it! Loved it!!!!

wow, ... I can't wait to see your new one... what if I love it too!

Can't wait for those pics!!

Kayla, you have a wonderful diamond. Enjoy it for a while longer before you go for an upgrade. THEN you can go for a 2.75 or 3 carat.

Leota, come on with the pictures! I posted pictures of my ring as soon as I got them and I don't even have the real thing yet!

I'm just wondering...Is there anyone out there totally satisfied with what they have or is everyone thinking about the next upgrade?

Hi everyone,
Thanks for responding.
Mara, I told you I was one bad, bad girl, but let's not forget, I am cute.
2.gif

Forget that I even mentioned this. Mostly likely in a few years, after the bracelet, earrings and sapphire PP&F ring, I will wind up just getting a brand new 3 carat diamond.

Okay, thanks everyone for getting these crazy thoughts out of my head. I will keep what I have. I actually really love my diamond.
I think that I am a little bothered by the G color, because whenever I mention to people (who ask) that it is a G color, they always tell me that they have an F or higher color and it makes me kind of embarassed.
Then I have to mention that it appraised as an E VVS2, which makes me look like I am lame and retarded
14.gif
and trying to compensate for something.
Okay, thanks again.

Leota...yes, I am a bad girl too...but my last setting was just spinning too much on my finger! Then I saw this Verragio setting that I just loved, so I had it 'customized' to have a thicker bottom band for spin control and very comfort fit so that I could put on a size 4 1/2. I just didn't like the way all of the hinged shanks looked on a smooth style. They seem to look a lot better when you have engraving hiding the hinge. It is very comfortable so far and has cut down on the spin by about 70%, so I'm happy. As soon as I can get my husband out of the house tomorrow, I'll post photos. Sorry to hijack your thread, Kayla!

Kayla, I'm glad you came to your senses.

Incase you forget again and fall off the sensible wagon, read your tagline -- that should put things back in order for you. In the meantime enjoy your beautiful ring and stop thinking about "what ifs."

Kayla...just tell them it's an E VVS2! Not like they know the difference, quite obviously since they are asking color!

How could they not be?

Caratgirl, the talk of your ring has me so anxious to see a picture of it and I couldn't find one in Show me the ring. Can you please point me to a thread which shows it (your old setting, before re-setting it), and of course, we're all waiting for pics of the new one too!

Don't even think about upgrading!!! Your setting is amazing as is.

Kayla, you really need to read your own tag line.
