Upgrading my diamond

Hey!

I am looking to upgrade my diamond from a J, very good cut 2.36 ct stone to an I, excellent cut 2.15 stone. The jeweler is charging $1K for the "upgrade". Is this a nicer stone and is it worth it or should I just keep mine? I've attached both GIA certificates to this thread.

The one you are considering is better cut than your original, but still not ideal cut. Pics would help!

Yeah. It's not ideal cut, but it's definitely better than your original. Obviously you won't be able to trade in for an ideal cut for only 1k. So I think it depends on how much you care about cut overall and whether you're willing to spend more for a truly ideal cut stone.
