Upgrading wife's diamond. Need some advice

Hello all. Brand spanking new member here. Finally ready to pull the trigger on a new ring for my wife so I thought I'd ask stuff here.


Round natural stone
2.7ct and up but stay under $30k.
Looking for I color, well cut and proportioned diamond.

Overall would I be able to fit a decent stone in that carat with my budget?

Unfortunately it's going to be extremely hard to find a well cut stone of that size/color in budget. Are you open to smaller and/or J color?

Not a fan of the ones you linked. Gia xxx is extremely broad and many aren't actually ideal cut.

From recent personal experience, you may struggle to find a stone this size. If rough can be made to hit 3 carats, that’s what cutters will try to do. 2.7 is in that range where it can become difficult. I had this decision and went for the carat range just over the next whole number. Do you have any flexibility on color or budget?

I love the 2.6 WF stone someone posted above. My stone is a WF ACA and it is unbeatable in terms of cut.

Hi Brlyant,

These stones look all very nice to me.
Though I agree with LoveMunkie that WF diamonds seem a bit overpriced.

If she doesn’t mind the inclusions the S1 is thus lower priced, yet an excellent cut, and at least on video it looks great.

The VS1 and VS2 are less included but obviously one pays a bit more for that perk. They look great too.

I’d go with the VS-1 it’s right in the middle of the 3 options.

If you know what your wife prioritizes on diamond preferences, that might help in order to make a decision too (clarity, size, or color).
It all boils down to personal preferences.

My guess is that you can’t go wrong with any of these; I think she’ll be happy
