and... sigh. it has been sold.

:( what a bummer. Maybe he/she has another one similar?

follow your instinct!
especially if there is a good return policy.....
sorry you lost out.

The same vendor has an 8.15mm one for sale on Ebay, if you don't mind going a little bigger! (I recognized the photography... I'm waiting for a garnet in the mail!) He seems to have quite a few amethysts lately, for great prices. It might be worth emailing him to ask if he has any more waiting in the wings. If not, you can follow him on pinterest and ebay. He seems to post new stones every couple days.

I thought you guys would recognise it! I saw the stone on his pinterest (I'm subscribed :naughty: ) but I was too late, alas.

BUT THERE IS A HAPPY ENDING. He says he can cut me one! now I have to think about size.. anyone? 7.5mm sounds pretty good to me.

Great news!! Any chance he can source the side stones as well? If so, that might help gauge the size of the center stone. But 7-8mm sounds good to me! Have you considered peridot for the sides? They might be easier to find than chrysoberyls.

I would hold off other plans until the stone arrives; his gems are typically darker and less saturated than pictured.

Aw crap. Sorry sonyachancs... That was totally me. I saw the price and jumped immediately to get it for my niece who loves amethysts. The funny thing is, I already have a Jeff Davies ammy that I want to set in a three stone with peridot sides. I guess great minds think alike. I'm glad he's going to cut another for you. If not I'd probably be willing to sell it to you at the same price and hit him up for another as I wasn't looking for any specific size.
I'm also interested to see if he can source the sides for you. A small peridot pair is not something I see very often.

You're so lucky he's willing to cut you one! I asked about that stone and one of his citrines and they had both sold at that point. He didn't offer to cut me anything but did offer another round citrine of the exact same color and a slightly larger amythest for the same price. It was nice of him as he didn't have to do that. I hope I like them when they get here, I'm a bit worried now it'll be dark. But if it's okay I'd definitely buy from him again as he was so kind.

hi Chrono! yes I found this out with my sapphire, but I've also realised that I can't wear heavily saturated/bright gems as they are too bling (and too much for my skin tone), so I'm hoping it'll work out. this is a project in the planning (I think I'll keep it to set only when I have a kid (which is WAY down the line)) so waiting is no problemo.

hello! that's perfectly alright - I figured it must have been one of us.. it's a long project in the making so no problem. could you please share when you get the stone?

speaking of the sides, I'm still undecided if I want a peridot.. ideally I would have lightly saturated yellow-green chrysoberyls, but those are even more difficult to get, and especially not in the trillion/trillant shapes that I want them in. peridots I am considering for the low-low price, but they are a little too bright in general for me.. are you looking at a 3-round-stone?

koolchicken, does that mean you got an ammy too? going bigger sounds good to me - and also I've always thought jeff very pleasant to deal with. I had loads of questions with my sapphire and he was always polite and quick, though a little more formal than I'm used to. I hope you like your stones!

sonyachancs, I did get an amythest! If I'm not mistaken the one we all wanted was 1.23ct and the one Jeff offered me is 1.53ct and 8.2mm. So it's a good size and he charged me the same as for the smaller one. I thought it was really nice of him, he didn't have to do that. But I think he could tell I was genuinely heartbroken over the citrine having sold. For that alone I would happily buy from him again. Actually I wouldn't hesitate to ask him to custom cut me a few more matching stones in the future. These two are destined for a pendant (assuming they work together size wise) and I want to have some matching earrings, a ring, and possibly a bracelet made.

DAMMIT! I got the citrine too. I have two nieces. The amethyst is for one and the citrine is for the other whose birthstone is citrine and who already has an amethyst. Sorry guys. I promise it was just the two stones in my order though.

Sonya, I saw that you wanted chrysoberyls, I just meant that the rings would be similar in colors. I like the design you have made with the trilliants a LOT! My amethyst is 9mm though, and my fingers are sort of small at 5.25. I was thinking to get small round ones and put them on the sides of the setting like this one by Daniel M. (I think the ring belongs to tefutefu???

Sonya,
When I say dark, I do not mean saturation (intensity or pop of colour) but the tone (blackness or lightness). I have not seen his stones to look like his pictures; they are closer to what is seen in his videos.

sorry Chrono! I agree his videos are more accurate - but I assumed you had also meant saturation because his photo is much more saturated than my stone is:

lol kelli! I think that is hilarious  you have some quick fingers! they are both beautiful stones, so congratulations! shots of both when they come please.

ah I see what you mean about the colors, sorry. I have size 5.5 fingers (RHR) too, so I think a 7.5mm ammy would work great for me. that ring is very cute -I see that the pinks are hidden! (https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-wedding-rings.158367/#post-2892406#p2892406 here, for anyone who would like to check it out).. do you not want a visible three stone? my er is 8mm on my finger, but I have a halo so I know a 9mm stone will give good coverage, but can probably accommodate a couple of bigger stones on the side..

I have an 8mm round with 4.4mm sides and there's really not much room left. A visible three stone would be ideal but I'd have to find little enough stones which I never see in peridot. It's not a priority but if I ever see the right ones I guess I'll know.

I will be sure to post pics when my stones come in, and I'm looking forward to seeing how your ring turns out!

I hope you end up loving your ring with whatever you decide, Sonya!

"DAMMIT! I got the citrine too. I have two nieces" I found this so funny and I would love to have you as an aunt, Kelli!

Haha. I hope they enjoy it! I love them:)
