Perhaps, it's because I'm going through a tad of wedding planning withdrawal or maybe it's because work is really slow this morning, but I thought that I would make a compliation of some of the various sites I found useful for my own wedding. We didn't have very much time to plan (7 months) and I honestly didn't have a particular "vision" that I wanted to pull off -- thus, I needed a lot of inspiration, advice, visual aids, and discount shopping.

We also did a few do-it-yourself projects. I don't know how crafty you are, but I just felt like it made the day a little more personal and special --even though in all honesty it really is only the bride, herself, that appreciates all those little details--

Websites: (hope they help)

The Knothttp://www.theknot.com/
I was skeptical at first, but because I knew so little about how to plan a wedding, I signed up. This is how we made our wedding website, though I know there are other host sites. Because our wedding was a destination wedding, our guests very much appreciated the website. Also, I used the planning bio feature to organize my pictures, which helped me to put it all together. There are also message boards, though they seem to be really catty and the girls are, perhaps, way too into their weddings, so I hardly ever used that particular tool.

Pink and Green Planning Bio
This is the planning website of one very organized knot bride. There are a ton of links I found extremely helpful, like how to create a customized map, checklists for the honeymoon and all sorts of other things. And if your colors are pink and green, she has really gorgeous pictures of pink bouquets.

Wedding Bee
I stumbled upon this site pretty late into the proceess. It's a bunch of brides and brides-to-be in NY, but they seem to have some really good taste and great ideas. This is a place that I found a lot of inspiration, plus they often post discount coupons. generally, they just have really great pictures to give you ideas from flowers to dresses.

White Aisle
Here's where we got our save-the-dates and invites from. It was a good balance of price and the sort of design we wanted. the site also has a bunch of cute potential bridesmaid gifts...

Paper Source
we have an actual store in DC and it's so much fun. I got all the paper for the welcome letters, programs, table numbers, thank yous, stamps, ink etc...

My Own Labels
This is where we got our labels made for the honey favors :)

Cudge
By far the cheapest place I found to buy reception-related goods like favors and candles.

Save-On-Crafts
I bet your florist will provide the vases for the centerpieces, but since we wanted to paint them yellow -- we got our own. This place was really cheap, like $1 a vase

Blue Tux Shoes
I got my shoes from zappos.com which I would highly recommend. They have no shipping charges and it's really easy to return them if you don't like them. So I ordered a couple of pairs and kept the ones that went best with my dress and returned the others. However, I found out about this website too late. The shoes look great and they have a blue sole which I think is the perfect "something blue".

Thomas Knoell Designs
If you want to wear some pretty things in your hair -- the little hair pin flowers look amazing.

Elizabeth Showers Vintage
I found my little pearl earrings here. I kept checking their sale stuff and it's pretty affordable and they threw in a pair for free as a gift.

Brides Magazine Website
The have some advice, but I basically used this site for pictures of hair and makeup.

Martha Stewart Weddings
another good site for pictures and ideas -- especially of cakes and flowers for some reason. I found our cake idea here

Instyle Weddings
Good for pictures

It's a long list and I'm sure there are many more, but I hope some of it is helpful. I planned so much of the wedding using the internet and I know that certainly isn't for everyone, but at least it helps you find great photos to show the florist, hair person, etc.

Thank you SO much for these links-
We are just beginning the process, picking the venue and a date for 2007, but hoping for May which isn''t that far off!
We are on a budget, but really want to put a lot of "us" into the little details, so I very much appreciate the sites and recommendations.

Can''t wait to get home and "surf" them for ideas-
:-)

Thanks so much LL for these great links! They will certainly be very useful!!!

Thanks so much! I''ve been engaged for 3 days and people are already asking me "Where??? WHEN???" and I''m starting to panic! These sites will help me a lot!

Thanks Lulu! Amazing how you can search and search on your own and never find some of this stuff! I swear I''d been on every favors site out there ... yet never even heard of cudge.com!

A great place for table cameras is www.camerasforall.com -- personalized cameras for $4.99! And they''re the nice plastic-covered ones, not just cardboard facades over regular disposables. The only thing I don''t like about them is that they''re 27 exp. - I''d have preferred 15, but hey, I can deal

wow! 50 cents a piece for 100 cameras!

LuLu, I''ve got to thank you! Cudge has the cylinders I was looking for, and less than a dollar a piece!!! Amazing! Thanks!

cudge has 72 votive candles and holders for 35.00!!! That''s exactly what I needed, thanks!!

no worries ladies. glad you''re finding some good deals

YAY, I just ordered the 72 pack of votive candles with holders and 800 fabric rose petals for about 70.00!! My venue would charge almost as much as I paid for all that just for 3 votives per table, now I have enough for at least 3 per table plus some to decorate the area where the hor d''oeuvres are going to be set out, along with the rose petals!
36.gif

Sweetpea, how many tables are you having?

between 13 and 15 tables, then we have some long tables for the hor doeuvres, so we'd have 3 per table and then 27 for the hor d'oevres/guestbook/placecard tables (all this is located in one area of the hall, a glassed in atrium). The rose petals are only going in the atrium, not on the tables.

Yeah, we''re having 15 tables too, which sucks because a lot of things are for 12 tables, or 10. Our venue gives us mirrored rounds (or squares) and votives. We also get a gazebo for the cake table!! I''m not sure how I''d want that decorated, though. Maybe some sparkle lights? It kinda sucks because it''s a daytime wedding, so lights and candles don''t really show as well as they would in a nighttime wedding.

Sweetpea, I think your idea sounds fabulous!!

LL- THANKS much for this info!

I''m approaching the finish line (50-ish days to go!) and have still have a couple of the decor items on my list. cudge will come in handy.

LOVELYLULU:

Lulu this is great... the pink and green bio is amazing. I''m doing white and green... but my bouquet is pink, green, and white. And the invites! Thanks so much for the help!

Look what I found with the help of one of your websites... the perfect hair flower! Of course I have a feeling just one of these is going to be a couple hundred dollars, but I''m going to call around and ask anyway.
