After several meetings with Mark T over at ERD, he helped me find a terrific stone and a setting my fiance loves (she said yes)
Mark''s patience and proffesionalism was nothing short of excellent, and he really went the extra mile to make me feel comfortable. We spoke over the phone about a month ago, and I was able to tell him I was interested in purchasing a round brilliant, and would be interested in seeing a cushion cut as well.
He wanted me to come to his office on 47th street, and he gave me a lesson on diamonds. Not once did he try to sell me anything, he literally spent an hour with me showing me several stones, comparing colors, cuts, and clarity. He showed me how to look at a stone through his loop and his ideal scope.
He told me the paramaters an ideal stone should have, and taking his proffesional opinion, I began looking on his website and other websites as well. I located a stone on another website, and he had it in his office several hours later. I plugged in the specifics of the stone on the HCA calculator and with a .8, I knew I wanted to see it. When I saw it, I knew it was the one.
We went with a Vatche x prong pave setting in platinum. It took vatche about 2 or so weeks to make the ring and set the stone.
I took it to Mark Bunda, who is in an independent appraiser, and he confirmed that the stone matched the certificate. Without lookung at the certificate, he told me the color, the clarity, dimensions and carat size. Besides the appraisal, he offered a range of what I should have paid in a competitve market (ie, diamond district), and it was on the low end of that range. I really felt good about my purchase. Mark Bunda also commented a couple of times on how good a job the folks over at Vatche did on the setting and pave work.
Anyone interested in a diamond please get in contact with Mark T over at engagement rings direct, you won''t regret it. Also Mark Bunda is a solid choice for an independent appraiser. Here are the pics:
