I''m hoping you ladies might be kind enough to give me your thoughts/suggestions for a hairstyle and veil to go with my dress. My hair refuses to hold curl, so I''ve ruled out leaving it down. I''m thinking maybe a relaxed/soft french twist with some pearl/sparkle pins scattered in it? As for a veil, I can''t make up my mind on what would look best. I do know I tend to prefer more sheer veils to big poufy ones. Ideas? Thanks!!!!

Here''s my dress:

And here''s my current hair inspiration:

I think there are few dresses that a sheer, one layer, long veil (a little longer than the train of the skirt) won''t go with. I think veils should add the "bridal" to a gorgeous dress and then let the dress be the focus.

And the hairstyle is very pretty!

i think a soft french twist would be completely classic and beautiful, especially if you added a little decoration to it with pearled pins or something. and if i didn''t say it before i ADORE the back of your dress! (of course the front is really pretty too!)

as for a veil, my vote would be for a single tiered silk tulle veil (cathedral length!). the silk tulle is limp (for lack of a better word) so it won''t have any poof factor and the sheerness of it wouldn''t hide the back of the dress. but i''m sure whatever you choose would be gorgeous!

Thanks, Basil and Mimzy! The two of you seem to agree that a long sheer veil is the way to go. I forgot to mention that it''s an afternoon, outdoor ceremony. Do you think I should worry at all about a cathedral veil catching on the grass or looking too formal? Also, do you think it should have any edging/decoration on it? I did try on a fingertip length at the shop where I tried on the dress. I wasn''t sure about the length, but it had what they called "blizzard beading" along the edges which matched the beading on the dress really well. I don''t think it competed with the dress too much - it seemed to almost highlight and draw attention to the dress beading.

If I went with a long veil, has anyone seen one that would mimic the shape of my train? If I had to order one specially made, how in the world would I go about describing what I wanted?

i think that some simple beading could be a nice accent to the beading your dress for sure. i''m pretty sure that you don''t order the veil in a different shape, because chances are it wouldn''t fall right even if you did, but that you would just order it in a larger width. it won''t be as translucent near the top, but it will cover the whole dress/train as you are walking down. but chances are it won''t be laying perfectly flat anyways if it is outside and there is even a slight breeze (unless you weighted it down at the end).

i would ask the seamstress if she has any suggestions about it catching on the grass - maybe she can rub some beeswax on the end of it so that it closes up the holes (invisibly) so it doesn''t catch on stuff?

Maybe have a fingertip length one instead of cathedral length? I want a non-poufy veil myself, and I''m thinking about a fingertip drop veil, which is actually a circle of sheer tulle you pin on you head with hair pins.
