Well folks...it''s finally done. Verragio E-ring with a 1.16 H Si1 H&A w/med.blue fluor.

Photos are not retouched in any way. Note the blue-ish light emanating from the center stone. I photographed 3 other diamonds in this same lighting/setup and they did not do this (they had none or neg. fluorescence)

Ummm, don't mind me....I'm just picking my jaw off the floor

It's absolutely gorgeous

Here's another view....in case you're wondering, it's on the black glass part of my kitchen stovetop. Note the unusual feature of this ring is that it can literally "stand up on its own". There's a small raised/embossed coin feature added to the ring shank as a detail. Verragio doesn't do this anymore on the same ring in their new catalog.

Here's the side view and shows the shank detail that I mentioned in the last post. It's really cool and unusual

Try describing this ring to a vendor, when they're looking at the exact same mold, minus that cool detail, and they say "I've got it right here, I'm looking right at it."

Isn't Fluorescence amazing? Look at the first picture and notice the blue haze around the outside of the center stone....no photoshop there!

Here's the all-important specs on the diamond

AGS-triple ideal, H&A
1.160ct H Si1 completely eye(& nearly loupe) clean
medium blue fluorescence
6.83-6.84mm x 4.19mm (talk about round!)
Crown: 34.9
Pavil: 40.9
Table: 54
Depth: 61.3

Due to the fluor., this diamond actually faces more like an F or G in natural light (any UV based light)

Setting is a Verragio ENG-0069P, old stock
Platinum band with 0.70ct TW, chanel-set princess cut diamonds
Raised shank detail with Verragio emblem coin in 14k yellow gold.

Hi:

Does the rounded piece on the shank have a stone in it? I worked with a gal once who had a similar type feature in her custom mount/RB solitare, and she could turn the ring around and just show the small diamond in the shank if she chose. (security reasons I suppose)
Very nice ring--BTW.

Wow, it's beautiful!

I love the side view of the stone.

And good idea using the stovetop for a dark background.

No there's no diamond in the bottom. It's a 14k gold coin with the verragio logo embossed on it, but that'a good idea for security to have a small diamond on the shank, and turn the ring around....hmmm

Unless you have a pretty small diamond, you're going to have to curl your hand around it a bit to hide it, and it'll probably poke you (especially with a high setting showing off all angles of the stone like that). It sounds impractical to hide the diamond like that to me...

Nice ring, btw, quite a showpiece.

HI:

Part of the impetus to use a stone in the shank (it was a remake), was b/c she had lost a side diamond and had one stone remaining--and had no intention of buying another side stone. Her RB was well over a carat, and she loved the "security" idea--and I think it was a fairly practical way to use the remaining stone. The remake went from a high set tiffany style to low bezel set and it was designed by a DeBeers award winning jeweller (80's) and the result was beautiful. (although I must admit a preference to high vs. bezel set solitares)

.

I liked the work she had done so well, that I had this gal design a Ceylon/Sapphire ring for me; a ring that I get the most compliments on of all the jewellery pieces I own.

cheers

That is one of my favorite settings of all time, and you found a gorgeous stone to put in it. I commend you on the lengths you went to to get it just right... and can't wait to hear about her reaction to it!

Holy carp that turned out great! The setting seems high, but I can't tell if it's just in the picture. The wrap around channel is awesome!
