Anyone have them or know anyone who has them? I am hoping for feedback on whether people are happy/unhappy with them or anything to consider that I might not think of or know (like ''''the seams were really obvious once installed'''' or something like that.) The small samples in person are quite beautiful, but I don''''t know anyone with actual experience. I would greatly appreciate ANY positive or negative feedback. Thanks in advance.

(for anyone not familiar, but interested in learning about them - they are eco friendly countertops made from recycled glass (100% recycled) and concrete http://www.vetrazzo.com/ )

I don''t have it but have learned about it in my classes. I have heard only good things about the product. I also imagine that the seams wouldn''t be any more noticeable than they would with granite, etc.

Thank you oobiecoo! What type of class were you in that you learned about it?
Anyone else have any experience or heard any other positives/negatives?

I couldn''t find anything off of google. There was a complaint about customer service but the President of Vetrazzo responded. It is really cool looking and environmentally good for the environment. I saw a picture of an installation of the red glass made from street traffic lights and a blue from recycled Sky Vodka bottles. Very unique in my opinion. I hope you are able to find out about seams and such. Maybe you''ll post pics for me if you decide to go that way? I just finished my degree in Interior Design and would love to see what it looks like in a real world installation. Good luck!

:) It was an interior design class called "Housing and the Environment". It was a really awesome class with alot of information about Green and sustainable design. Let us know if you go with it!

I took House and it''s environment and I didn''t hear about this

It looks cool@

I emailed my architect about it, it just looks so neat and could be great in my kids bathrooms. Is it floor or wall too, or just counter?

I looked at this product http://www.enviroglasproducts.com/slab.asp as one alternative to replace my kitchen counters. I''m also considering richlite paperstone. The vetrazzo, & paperstone products have been installed in several commercial establishments (primarily restaurants as countertops and in bathrooms) where I live so I went to take look at some of the installations and I really like them. Spoke to the owners of the restaurants who have had the products for at least two years and they are very pleased with them.

Wow, Thanks guys!

oobiecoo and heraanderson - I had never heard of it before, but stumbled across it when researching granite (I actually came across it mentioned in one sentence in a forum as an alternative suggestion). I was wowed by the pics on the website, and wanted to at least go see it in person (although I was not optimistic that something with that much recycled material would really look that good in person.) They had small samples of it there (I emailed Vetrazzo and it turned out there was a dealer not listed on their site but near me), and I thought it was really beautiful and different. I thought it was prettier IMO than the Icestone that they had b/c the larger chunks of glass actually gave a type of depth to it (as the saleslady said ''the bling bling of recycled glass countertops'') - the ''patina'' styles that they have also help to make it look very rich with depth (this involves some type of dying the color of the concrete a darker color which kind of emphasizes the glass contrast).

Diamondfan - With regards to the use of it, I know it is used for countertops and can be cut into tiles for the walls (the fabricator here will cut it into tiles if you wish), but I was told this brand is not for flooring. They did carry a brand called Terrazzo by Wausautile for flooring, but it just wasn''t as pretty - I think mostly b/c the chunks are so small you cannot tell they are glass so it just looks like cement with specks in it and has a very flat appearance. I actually thought a lot of the plain recycled pavers were prettier than the terrazzo flooring.

Matata -Thank you for the feedback that you were able to get - that makes me feel better!

In case anyone needs to know, the fabricator in our area sells it in 9ft x 5ft x 1 1/4in slabs and 9ft x 30in x 1 1/4in slabs. (I note that the website only mentions the 9x5 slabs)
