Have any of you had a vibrant, multi-color scheme? I''m thinking tropical beach sunset colors... oranges and pinks, a small amount of yellow, with touches of green and light blue. I like the colors in the pic but would want a touch of blue equal in intensity as the green.

Did anyone go with something like this and have pics of the flowers and cake they could post?

Hi Sera,

Mela Lu posted a site that is fabulous. It has a bunch of florists'' portfolios and websites that gives you a ton of ideas. Let''s see if I can find it... shoot, I can''t find it right now. She posted it for Maisie who was looking for some inspriation.

I think that''s a beautiful arrangement! As long as you stick with one or two main colours and have other colours as accents, you should be okay. If you have too many "main" colours it may get a little chaotic

There''s an example of "vibrant" here

Or here''s a plain wedding cake with vibrant flowers

These aren''t wedding cakes but the colour is there to reference...

I searched "whimsical wedding cakes" and came up with a million. Hope that helps!

My color scheme was bright pink and orange. This was the inspiration for my bouqet. It came out pretty close but I don''t have any good pics of it. I didn''t put any blue. Basic scheme was bright pinks, orange, yellow with some pale pinks and green.

We're using fuchsia, lime green, and cream.

I think the bouquet is beautiful. NOt sure about the blue though... I'm feeling that it might not exactly fit in and might look like too many colours. I like the idea of the oranges and pinks with hints of yellow and green though.

I saw one wedding that used a tropical flower scheme - with orange, scarlet, pink and hints of green. It was beautiful!

IslandDreams... I actually have that picture saved... love it. I just LOVE flowers and color... so hard to narrow it down!

Sha... I know it does sound like a lot of color, but it would still be mainly orange and pinks. I do want it very tropical (I want a beach wedding), and I just love the contrast of hot pink and orange set against ocean/sky blue. The pic shows more of a purply-blue which blends with the deep purply-pinks, but I think I would rather use a blue that blends with the green (like a cyan). These are the colors just basically for the flowers and the cake (I want a more whimsical cake anyway) and not like all these colors would have to go into every element of the decor. If it ends up looking like too much, I can drop the blue. Actually, when I reinstall Photoshop, I will take the bouquet and add some blue to it and see how it looks. I have seen Fushia and lime green- STUNNING -but have not seen it with the cream... sounds unique and beautiful! Would love to see pics!

OH, another thing about my colors that might be important when envisioning my idea... I am not having a wedding party so there won't be a problem of coordinating the flowers with BMs' dresses.

Thanks for the info/links everyone!

Here is a blue+green blend that I will photoshop into the pink+orange+yellow to see if it's color-overkill or not. If it is, I could use a Bird of Paradise for a touch of purply-blue or just have green and no blue.

Oh, that bouquet looks awesome! Seeing it now I don''t think it be overkilll, actually. Just very pretty.

Here''s a couple I had saved...

sera - that''s propbably my favorite bout ever! i still have that pic saved.

Pandora, I love both of them. I like the contrasting colors in the first... very "Van Gogh."

I love purple but am staying away from it (I am divorced and our wedding color had been a deep, rich purple with absolutely amazing flowers in purples and pinks, so I'm staying away from purple.)

I LOVE green orchids... so pretty and fresh. I would definitely like them in my bouquet!

ETA: What are those spidery deep pink orchid like flowers with the yellow edges? (In my first pic and your second?) I sooo love those! In the second pic I love that two-toned flame-y mum-ish red and yellow-orange flower. Love the blue in the first.

They are gloriosa lilies - really gorgeous.

I''m not sure on the second flower - could be a dahlia or some kind of zinnia perhaps.

I found an amazing site which does wholesale (trade-only

) orchids in loads of amazing colours.
