I first learned about Victor Canera on Pricescope, and reached out to him when I was thinking about resetting my emerald cut ring (a 3.6 ct GIA K color center emerald cut diamond with side trillions).
Just wanted to share the extraordinary outcome, with huge thanks to the PS community for the introduction to Victor!
I had the good fortune to meet Victor in person - I was headed to LA for a business trip, so the timing worked out perfectly. Before the meeting, I'd already received quotes from him for two different reset options and wasn't sure which would be best, so I brought my original ring along. Victor was such a delight to talk to... and he suggested a completely new option, two sets of side trapezoid diamonds flanking the center. After pondering it for a week & talking it over with my DH, we decided to go for it! He had to custom-cut the side diamonds, so it was a bit of a leap of faith... no photos/diamond line-up to view in advance.
The result is simply stunning. The new ring is a river of light. The stones seem to flow into each other. The center stone looks brighter than before - the proportions are just perfect. He's crafted a jewel that feels very substantial, yet delicate. In photos, the details are magnified; in real life, the bezels around the side trapezoids are so thin, they melt into the diamonds. And I'm sure everyone here is already familiar with the craftsmanship of his 'double eagle claw' prongs, which I absolutely had to have. He was also able to add a 'step effect' to the height of the side stones, so they are not set flat on one plane: the smaller sidestones are placed just a tiny bit lower than the bigger ones next to the center. It's subtle, and adds dimension to the overall look. The overall effect is incredibly elegant.
The professional photos from Victor, plus a not-so-professional one of my own:
To Victor, and to Pricescope - you have my everlasting gratitude for making this magnificent re-set possible! Thank you!
