Hey everyone,
I just wanted to thank this community for all the information provided for lurkers like myself to study (for days, or really, months on end). When it came to buying an engagement ring for my now fiancé, I wanted to make sure I was getting a diamond that was spectacular. The only problem was my girlfriend seemed to be just as interested in a unique and high quality setting. She wasn't into the idea of having a solitaire.
Eventually given my circumstances, I decided to simplify the process a little bit and just go with Victor Canera because of the high praise for his halo settings. I settled on the braided shank halo because it was a little different, and a ring which I thought suited my girlfriend's personality very well. Believe me, I tried to put my own personal twist into the ring multiple times, and Victor was patient enough to kindly let me know why each of my ideas were not possible with this setting. In the end, I got to add two sapphires (my birthstone) at the end of each side of the shank and the diamond chosen was 1.225 cts which when rounded up is 1.23, which was neat since her birthday was January 23.
Perhaps in the future, I will just have to buy a cocktail ring for her at another date
I had been searching for diamonds from a variety of PS-approved vendors, but when I decided on this setting, Victor let me know that because of the complexity of the setting, that it could only be done with a Canera branded diamond. In the end, I am probably thankful that he drew the line here, as it saved me from analysis paralysis with all the vendors around.
Victor sent the diamond to a Fedex ship centre for me to view, and shipping it back was easy because he said the diamond would be covered under their own insurance if anything happened.
Anyways, with that being said, here are some photos. Please excuse my poor photography skills. I'm sure my fiancé would prefer proper photos, but she's at work, and I just wanted to get this out here as soon as possible!
