Hey everyone,

I just wanted to thank this community for all the information provided for lurkers like myself to study (for days, or really, months on end). When it came to buying an engagement ring for my now fiancé, I wanted to make sure I was getting a diamond that was spectacular. The only problem was my girlfriend seemed to be just as interested in a unique and high quality setting. She wasn't into the idea of having a solitaire.

Eventually given my circumstances, I decided to simplify the process a little bit and just go with Victor Canera because of the high praise for his halo settings. I settled on the braided shank halo because it was a little different, and a ring which I thought suited my girlfriend's personality very well. Believe me, I tried to put my own personal twist into the ring multiple times, and Victor was patient enough to kindly let me know why each of my ideas were not possible with this setting. In the end, I got to add two sapphires (my birthstone) at the end of each side of the shank and the diamond chosen was 1.225 cts which when rounded up is 1.23, which was neat since her birthday was January 23.

Perhaps in the future, I will just have to buy a cocktail ring for her at another date

I had been searching for diamonds from a variety of PS-approved vendors, but when I decided on this setting, Victor let me know that because of the complexity of the setting, that it could only be done with a Canera branded diamond. In the end, I am probably thankful that he drew the line here, as it saved me from analysis paralysis with all the vendors around.

Victor sent the diamond to a Fedex ship centre for me to view, and shipping it back was easy because he said the diamond would be covered under their own insurance if anything happened.

Anyways, with that being said, here are some photos. Please excuse my poor photography skills. I'm sure my fiancé would prefer proper photos, but she's at work, and I just wanted to get this out here as soon as possible!

You done good!!! :love::love::love:

Very nice and elegant and gorgeous!

Congratulations on your engagement!

Love the personalised touches to the ring, I always love hidden stones or stones that only the wearer know are there. :D

Great choice of vendor for such a complex design.

We always love to know other stats on the diamond if that's something you're willing to share but that's not necessary so long as you post more pictures!;)2

Gorgeous ring! Please share the specs of the diamond with us and of course, more pictures!!

Stats of the diamond and much better photography and video can be found here:

It's an I SI1 1.225 CT Canera Ideal Hearts

For those curious, I did actually look at the diamond under different lighting for over an hour at the FedEx shipping centre. Laughably, I was paranoid about others seeing me and getting ideas about getting funny ideas about taking the diamond for themselves. In the end, the employees working there found out anyways.

I did find that the diamond had a very faint color, but it was probably the yellow background walls emphasizing it. As you can see, in an overcast day it is quite white and in the halo it's not really too noticeable. Best of all, is my fiancé is not complaining and is in love with the ring and so I do not want to worry anymore about the specs. I spent a good part of half a year researching for this ring, many times at cost to my real job's performance ;-)

In the end, I felt like even if I went up to an H, there was no guarantee that the color would be much less noticeable, and this diamond had both an AGS and GIA cert which rated the color as I, so I felt confident that the color was not a low I.

Congratulations ! It is so pretty!!! I love the braided shank halo (VC IS THE BEST!!!) and extra points for the center stone being a Canera stone! I, myself, have an I color Canera European Round so Im kinda biased :D

I love be the braided shank!

The ring looks beautiful on her. I love the braided shank and the little sapphires!!! Good job!

That profile from the side is gorgeous with the fluidity of the braided shank and the top of the halo, stunning.

The ring looks stunning on her and that braid up to the head is to die for. Congratulations! Well done! It looks wonderful on her.

nice work! i love the braided shank. i caught a glimpse of the sapphires in the video, such a sweet touch.

Congratulations all around for a beautiful ring and your engagement! Victor's work is impeccable.

Congratulations! It's beautiful. At first glance it seems sweet and simple, but then you can really see its complexity and craftsmanship.

What an incredibly gorgeous ring! I love the gracefulness and symbolism of the intertwining bands. Amazing! And the hidden "surprise" sapphires are divine! Congratulations on your engagement, and wishing you every happiness in the future!

VERY pretty!! :D

Thanks everyone. We're both very happy about VC's work, and we've been busy playing with the diamond in different lighting. Still not too many photos but may post a few going forward into the future =)2

Here's a few taken at a dimly lit restaurant we were at over the weekend, tried to capture some of the different sparkles the ring was emitting.
