Hi everyone. I am a longtime fan of Pricescope but this is my first time posting. From this forum, I was able to set my fancy intense yellow radiant into a fabulous setting that makes me smile every time I look down on my hand.

My husband bought me my 1.6 carat VVS2 fancy intense yellow diamond about six years ago as an anniversary gift. The jeweler from whom we bought the stone insisted that we at least put it in a simple setting until I made a decision about a permanent one. I wore the stone as a solitaire for many years and even though I loved the diamond, it made me a little sad that I wasn’t dazzled by the lonely setting. I kept searching for a setting until last year.

I chose Victor Canera because I fell in love with a beautiful aquamarine ring he made. His sapphire trilogy, Alexia, blew my socks off. I started conversations with him in the spring of 2014 and flew out to meet him in late October.

Victor’s aquamarine trilogy was the starting point for the design and from there I wanted a halo to frame the yellow radiant. I opted for a single row u-cut pave shank rather than a three row pave shank only because I am active and didn’t want to think too much about the ring when I wore it. As a side note, while the ring was being made, I began to pay attention to how much I use my left hand. Whether it’s left-handed high fives with my tennis partner or carrying scuba equipment that always seems to mysteriously cut my fingers, I was surprised how many potential situations could damage a ring. I have since decided to leave the ring in a safe place rather than wear it during those activities.

The prongs are in yellow gold and there is no gold enhancement cup underneath the stone. Whether or not to get a gold enhancement cup was a big decision but the color saturation in the center stone is pretty strong so it holds its own very nicely, I think. Having said that, I do find that in different lighting, particularly yellow lighting, the yellow in the stone does not seem as intense and I wonder if a gold enhancement cup might have made the color more consistent across all lighting situations. Nevertheless, I am pleased.

I found Victor to be very accessible and easy to work with. I didn’t have any problems during the process. He was professional and served as a good guide as to what would work and what wouldn’t. While he was able to accommodate my preferences, it was also important to let him lead the project in order to get the proportions done in a way that works. I did go ahead and have him make a platinum spacer for a future band. I wouldn’t hesitate to use him again and hope that he will make a band to complement my ring. I am now dazzled and extremely happy! Thank you, Victor – I love it!!!

Congrats, stunning ring, do you have any hand shots? We would LOVE to see more!!!!

I have been trying to load the handshots but the website keeps kicking me off. A bit frustrated...

I could seriously use some help here - I can't figure out why I can upload these photos. Even have a before and after shot I would like to share. Sigh.

Stunning! Enjoy! :appl: :cheeky:

Oh my goodness! VC strikes again. I bet that ring looks incredible on you!!!!! I Have been looking at yellow diamonds and I am so jealous!! That stone certainly deserves a gorgeous halo! I CANNOT wait for hand shots!!

Go to Upload Attachments and try attaching that way. Hurry!!!!

What a gorgeous setting for a gorgeous diámond! I hope you are able to post more pictures of this beauty.

HI:

Handpics!!

cheers--Sharon

You might need to condense down the size of your pics. I have the same problem some days I can get things to upload onto here, other days it won't work at all.

Gorgeous!!!! Gosh, Victor's settings are just perfection! Your diamond is an intense yellow! You definitely didn't need a yellow cup!

Gorgeous! We definitely need more pictures though.

Beautiful!

What a beauty!!! The color of the center stone is so intense yellow, it does not need a gold cup.

Have you tried loading and posting just one photo via 'upload attachment' underneath the reply message page. There is a maximum of 4 per post. And like Arkieb said you could try reducing the size per photo.

Would love to see handshots of this one.

Stunning ring. We need more photos though!!!! :naughty:

Ooh she's a beauty. Hoping you can post more pictures soon!

Just exquisite - his work is over the top!!

Enjoy your beautiful new ring!

Just amazing, that diamond is finally home!

Beautiful!! I love how the setting contrasts the beautiful yellow stone. Congrats!

That is sooooo beautiful! The difference is so dramatic, classic, and elegant  !

Wow, that is an incredible transformation!!! It goes to show what the right setting can do to enhance a stone's appearance! :appl:

Hurray for pictures!!! It is even more dazzling on your hand. The new setting makes your diamond look larger and makes the color really pop.

Stunning!

Gorgeous! Your radiant looks amazing in the sun (and all the other places too)! The new setting really showcases the stone!

Lovely.

Thank you all for your kind comments. I took the photos with an old iPhone so the images aren't as crisp as Victor's.

Below is the image of the beautiful aquamarine trilogy that Victor Canera made that launched my project. You can see similarities. The three row pave on the shank of the aquamarine is absolutely gorgeous, I think. I would have loved that but wasn't convinced that I wouldn't damage my ring somehow so I played it safe and opted for a single row of pave.

My stone is smaller than the aquamarine and is square while the aquamarine is rectangular. I also requested that Victor make my shank as thick as he could, using his own judgement in terms of proportions.

I wanted a halo to accentuate the color of my center and also break up the yellow color of my stone with my skin tone. I really got a sense of this issue when I lived with this fancy intense as a solitaire. While the diamond is lively and very yellow, I felt it needed white around it to give it a punch. And having more real estate on my finger isn't bad either as the diamond is a 1.6 carat and fairly deep.

It takes a leap of faith to give your diamond and money to a stranger, but after reading so many terrific reviews about Victor and seeing his beautiful work, I had a good feeling that he would be the expert to do this job. I'm glad we met him, that I could put a face to the voice and I couldn't be happier. I have Pricescope to thank too.

Stunning ring! Love the setting, it really suites your stone  I long for a yellow diamond & think that a halo really makes the color pop!

I love the halo around the yellow diamond. It makes the center stone really pop. I love yellow diamonds, but it never looks nice on my finger. However, if there was a lovely yellow halo around it, it may look much nicer on my finger.
