Ok, so I know I''ve found the photographer that I want, and it''s on the expensive side, but well worth what you get. A videographer isn''t really that important to me, I find most videos to be cheesy (no offense) with no sound and music to it, I''d rather hear what people are saying, maybe it''s just the videos I''ve looked at, but.... I was thinking of just buying a digital video camera and have people pass it around if they have something to say, and whoever wants to video parts of the night. I''d figure paying $400-$500 for a video camera and maybe having something by the end of the night to keep on top of the video, is worth it to me. Has anyone else done this?

I felt exactly the way you feel now about videographers.................until a month ago when I happened to come across Lindsey''s video. It was fantabulously fantastic!!! It made me weep it was so good :) The next day I got a couple of recomendations and found this one guy (works for NBC) who will shoot our entire day for just shy of 1k. He does weddings every weekend and I saw some samples and he is just perfect! (price is right, too).

So, I booked him. I didn''t even include his cost into the price of my wedding as I looked at it as a gift to myself what with all this PLANNING I''m doing........I want to SEE IT IN ACTION hee hee. The day after I booked, my side job as an ethnographer kicked in and they asked me to work a surprise full week the next week and I made that money back in 7 days

It was meant to be :)

Anyhow, I totally see why you feel the way you do....but (hopefully, Lindsey doesn''t mind this plug for her lovely wedding video) head on over to see her clip and see how you feel then. Maybe it''ll be a change of heart for you?

Where is this NBC guy based?

Lindsey''s video clip was definitely better than most! I enjoyed it also! ;)

We are going to get FI''s brothers to film bits with our camera. We have a really good one which is easy to use. Again, I''m not fussed on a professional one with music etc, but would quite like a record of the speeches (they''re long in the UK - last wedding I went to: 48 minutes! Normally there is a sweepstake on the combined length of the Bride''s father, the Groom and the Best Man).

I would be sure you sit down and talk to the individual unless they do that sort of thing often. We had our video camera set up in the sound booth where the guy operating the sound could just hit record so that we could have it all recorded....we got back from the honeymoon and he hit record in the middle of the ceremony...disappointing...but hey whatever lol....we had a BEAUTIFUL ceremony and things went well. So I would just tell them what you want and stuff like that.

We didn''t do video at all. My cousin made us a DVD of the ceremony using his camcorder but that was it. And guess what? We''ve never been disappointed that we didn''t shell out a ton of extra money for a video we would never have watched anyway. Now photography is a different story...
