Hi everyone I’ve just purchased a super spready 2ct cushion diamond and im wondering what would be the best way to set it. I love finger coverage and love a split shank but not sure to go for a halo or not. The vendor has said a mirror setting would make the stone super special so I’m trying to decide .. any advice greatly welcomed
I also love the simplistic setting it’s been advertised on below 4877B943-F9BD-40E6-BA80-3E04B864DB2C.png8D1AFC1B-3FED-4F9E-8079-C25DB48E645C.jpeg

I’m not sure what a mirror setting is, but for me I really like the combination of a halo and a split shank together. Something like a baguette halo if you want to be a bit different perhaps? I think it looks great with a delicate split shank. Or maybe some milgrain thrown in to complement the antique cut??

If you do stick with a solitaire setting I would want some milgrain or other “antique-y” detail to complement the cut of the stone. Or perhaps accent stones on the shank?

I like keeping the idea of the stone simple but also the halo and absolutely I think baguettes would be beautiful

I think with it being so shallow that you will need a backing to it or you’ll see right thru it. I’m thinking he’s talking about what most people refer to as a “cup”.

The mirror setting is something offered by Dolly, xothebijouxbox, and is different than a cup. A cup usually has an opening at the bottom for cleaning and the upper part of the cup is solid metal hugging around the stone. A cup is often done to enhance the color of the stone. The mirror setting is open at the top, like a traditional prong setting, and solid metal at the base which is as big as the stone. It is often used for shallow stones so that the metal underneath the stone reflects light back so you shouldn’t see a window as easily, and certainly don’t see your finger underneath.

OP - what size is your finger? The mm on your stone are big and would a halo be too much? My personal preference is that the sparkle factor of a halo be similar to the sparkle factor of the center stone. That would be challenging to do with this stone and I don’t think I could do it online without seeing multiple melee options in person. If you like different / contrasting sparkle factor than it wouldn’t be an issue. I like Allaboardtheblingtrain’s idea of milgrain or accent stones on a shank for a solitaire.

Hi thanks for your input .. I love the idea of a mirror setting. My finger is us 5 (j) I like a halo too. I love finger coverage. I appreciate this stone might not sparkle like a better cut stone but on the video it really did sparkle. (Prob under lights) I love a split shank and just can’t decide to halo it or not? This is my dream setting below though 6698A33F-2FF0-48AD-A8B2-4878AE72471F.png

This is just to give you an idea of how your stone will look on a J finger. You can go to the site and adjust the shank or finger if it helps you visualize. On your inspiration pic is the metal brushed gold or is it engraving? That setting really makes the stone pop.
