I''m looking to replace my wife''s "best buy" gold band with a vintage ring of @ least 2k and I''m clue-less. After reading some of the posts I think that Single Stone in downtown LA seems to be a place to start / finish my search. I''m planning on giving her the ring on a trip to Paris in October. I read some of the posts discribing the different cuts and color ranges. Could any one give me some guidlines about price? Not necessarily the "best deal" as much as what''s the market like in a store such as this. As far as a budget is concerned (which I always feal weired when salespeople ask) It seems that they then look at undicifeable numbers on a tag, multiply my watch, minus my jeans, times my sunglasses. It always makes me feal I''m getting hosed. Here I''d say anywhere from 10,ooo to 15,ooo (hows that for a range) I know that I''d like to buy as bright white as I can with still keeping in mind that vintage is not the same as newer cuts. What cut shows off the diamond to it''s best advantage.
