I've been out of the loop due to no power .. Thanks, Irma (kids fiiiiiiiinally go back to school tomorrow, Friday). In the midst of all the turmoil a vintage ruby bombe ring I found for a song showed up in the mail. It's from the 1930's and I can't stop looking at it. It totally made my week! It's very pink-red and in the sun it's so florescent that I can't photograph the glow without the camera going fuzzy.

The center stone is 7mm and the tcw is just shy of 5cts. It has a scratch to the table of the center stone and I'm trying to decide if I did it it just leave it. Thoughts?

Photos are first indoor florescent and incandescent light, then pics in the shade, then pics in the sun.

Thanks so much Bluegemz! We didn't have things too bad here with flooding or anything, just lots of downed trees and power issues. Playing with my ring certainly lifted my mood :P2

That is a lovely, juicy ring!

A very uplifting pop of colour!

I'd leave the scratch if you can live with it without being too bothered by that.

I would leave it as is. Your ring is so unique and beautiful! I'm so sorry you lost power due to Irma. I hope everything is back to normal for you. She was a mean hurricane!

Thanks! You hit the nail right on head! It is super juicy (I love that description, Lisa!). I can't even describe the exact color. It has so many personalities... And the camera doesn't capture them.

That's what I was leaning towards but I'm glad to hear someone else say it. And you are so right... It really is uplifting. I swear, if doctors could prescribe jewelry for depression I'd be a much happier girl, lol. :lol-2:

Thank you dear. We fared far better than many. My family's inconvenience is nothing compared to the devastation some were faced with.

That Irma was a mean thing! Glad things are turning back to normal for you.

Rubies are 9 on the MOHs scale of hardness, so unless you've done something that you can recall, it's likely it arrived scratched. Bearing in mind it's age, it's likely to have happened on it's long journey to you. It's lovely, so if it's not bothering you, leave it be, think of it as a battle scar from its long and varied life :D

You're welcome. Barbuda was annihilated. That made me so sad. We were just in the Everglades, Miami and the Keys in February. I don't even want to know how badly they were pummeled.

I'm so sorry about the devastation and inconveniences. I have a college friend living in Texas and was pretty worried for her and her young ones, but relieved to know that they were only mildly affected.
