Vintage Tiffany box- authentic? Do you have one like this?

I bought a ring that I’ll post pics of if I keep it heh

I’m concerned that the box looks so different than the box my olive band came in. The box quality also doesn’t seem to be fantastic: it doesn’t close all the way, there’s some fraying on the inside, the back hinge is visible as opposed to invisible, the period next to “Co” seems less sharp, and there’s a crooked element to the inner lining on the lower half.

Could this be explained by the box being an older style? Or have I been duped? It’s pretty impossible for me to get to T&Co right now, because of the pandemic.

The ring itself looks accurate and gorgeous.

I only have the blue boxes..I had to search for a while to find a box similar to the one you have. They definitely did a navy blue velvet box.... Yours looks black..but the lining looks like a faded navy blue. I know that navy blue lining does fade to the color you have because my 94 year old mother had navy blue coats where the lining faded to the blue on the lining of your box. I found a similar box on Poshmark that they say is authentic. I would be more concerned with the jewelry you purchased. Can you post a pic of it with the hallmark?

I‘m not an expert but I did some research. It looks like the real deal to me. It’s gorgeous! I would call Tiffany and ask If they ever did a black box with that ring. You could also bring it to an appraiser that’s familiar with Tiffany pieces.

I think it’s her...haha...There are pics around that show the ring where they’re described as authentic but they look slightly different. It could just be the way the pic was taken. How did I miss this thread!! That signature looks good to me. I am always looking at vintage schlumberger eggs online, and this is how the signature looks on some older ones. Your ring looks like someone bought it and it sat in their jewelry box bc it looks new!!! Great find, so pretty!!!

Can't speak to the band but my box from 2010 (boutique purchase) has the visible hinge.
My boxes from 2014+ have hinge hidden.

Don't know about the ring, but one of my boxes from the store circa early 2003 has the black (or at least what appears to be black) outer part and the navy blue inner lining, with hinges visible.

@pearaffair My schlumberger ring came in a box with a hidden hinge (purchased in 2015 from boutique). However, I had a Frank Gehry piece from 2009 in a box with a visible hinge (see pics).

Oh thank you so much for this info. Such a relief! And yes, the ring is in fantastic condition, it’s a wonder why the box looks rough... although, perhaps the previous owner was a bit like me! I wear my jewellery with great care.
