Okay, so I admit I don''t think "vintaging" is a word, but whatever. Anyway, I am going to do Martha Stewart my bouquet, with an old hanky from my aunt (something borrowed). The problem is, the color is white, and my dress and the other colors surround the wedding are ivory. Any of you brides know how I can "vintage" the color to a more ivory color? This dilemma also stretches to the guest book she got us, which is ALSO white. The material for the book is a silk/satin (I wish I paid more attention), with embroidered and beaded flowers on it, ironically, the flowers match the hanky as well. Any ideas on how to ivory them up a bit? Or should I just leave as is? I love both of them, and don''t want to get new ones, so opinions would be greatly appreciated. This is what I want to do with the hanky:

For the hanky, I have an easy tip! Just make a batch of pretty weak tea and soak it in there for a little bit! We used to do this with paper and linen all the time to "age" it and it works great! I''m sure a hanky type material will color evenly too. Just make the tea weak and pull the hanky out frequently to see how dark it''s gotten so it doesn''t get TOO dark.

No idea about the guestbook though...I imagine that would get streaky/stained looking with the tea trick. But I kind of feel like it would be fine for the guest book to be white even if your real color was ivory. Unlike the hanky, it''s not going to be right up against your dress, so I bet most people won''t even notice!

Albi, that is a GREAT idea, I don''t know why I didn''t think of it. Funny enough, I was sitting here thinking that the pumpkin spice latte (not so good) was probably going to stain my teeth, reeeeally should have let that idea stretch to the hanky. Thanks!

Haha I don''t recommend trying to dye your hanky in the pumpkin spice latte though!

I was going to say the same thing!!! I do not know about the guest book, but tea is what I thought of too!

I second what the others said, but I also wanted to show you this dress. I found it while trying to find a gown for someone and thought of you! (Check out the back!)

Ebree, LOVE the back of that dress (you have SUCH a good memory!). Now I''m thinking along the lines of having it made (thanks to you pointing out Julius bridal (or is it Julian?) to Robbie) with the back I adore. You know how it is with liking this part of one, and this part of another!

Julius Bridal- and yeah, having it made would be a great idea! Would you do it in silk? I don''t think Julius charges that much more for it. If you decide to use them, be sure to order it in plenty of time, in case you need adjustments. What would your Julius dress look like?

I''d like to do it in silk, to be honest! It sucks because I run all the dresses I love past Paul, and he''s like, eh.. Not bridal. Not bridal???? What the hell? I live the design on the front of this:

I am SO lazy regarding links- sorry guys!!

Albi, that''s my front runner, too.. I reaaaaally need to get my caboose out there and try on some freakin'' dresses!

Ooh, I like the Elspie too!

I guess I''d better get a move on- if I ever want to try on dresses sometime before the wedding.

Ebree, what''s going on with your dress ideas? Amy Kuschel (sp?) still in the running?

I totally just read that as "Ashton Kutcher" and was starting to wonder what kind of a wedding EBree was planning after all!

Everything I''d heard before then made me think her wedding would be beautiful and elegant...but she wants to get Punk''d now??

Hehehe, but Amy Kuschel sounds much nicer.

Ebree got punk''d.

I think I''m going to make my own dress out of burlap sacks and paper napkins. It''ll fit the "Rustic Autumn" theme of our wedding.

I actually plan to order the Amy Kuschel (fabulous sash and all!) in December when I visit my family in Texas. I can''t wait! To distract myself, I''m looking for accessories.

Ooh, Ebree, are you excited!! Isn''t it funny? I already have my accesories (not really, just the bouquet wrap, and necklace), but I haven''t even LOOKED at dresses. Which color sash is it going to be?

Since we're doing blue and ivory, I'm going to buy the platinum sash. I don't know what I'm going to do for accessories, but I'll make a post about it sometime. I was thinking either a simple strand of pearls (fitted, like a choker) and a small pair of pearl studs or just chandelier earrings...no necklace. Do you have any other accessories in mind? Earrings to match that gorgeous necklace? What about you, Albi?

I found this pretty vintage brooch today that I'd put in my hair- what do you girls think?

(I'll take the link down soon so no one steals it!

Ebree, that brooch would be LOVELY. Especially with the pearls!! *drool*

I decided that I want some YG studs to wear, the YG will match the YG of the necklace, since I am having a super hard time finding dangly earrings for the necklace, and I''m thinking of wearing the hair up, or at least half-up. I am thinking of these: what do you think?

Amber, LOVE those earrings!!!

Also really enjoy that you ended the picture file name with "love"

OMG, perfect choice on the earrings! Beautiful (and delicate).

Ah, yes. I forget that people can read the lame little titles I give things. Good thing this isn''t the "smacktownearrings" I was going to post.
28.gif
Yeah, I''m almost positive that I''m going to get those, it really covers all bases. BUT, my aunt- the one who gifted the guest book and hanky, is a collector of all things shopping (hence the guest book before the engagement), has a large collection of jewels and goldy things, and she said I should take a sift through her stuff, so we''ll see.

Are 7mm round too big for studs?

I also wanted to mention that my uncle (who is much talented in the sewing area- he made my blankie when I was a baby) is going to make me a ring pillow- I''m thinking something similar to this, but a little less feminine.

linenringpillow.jpg

Those pillows are so cute! Mind if I steal the idea? We're only having a flower girl, so she might have to do double duty and carry a pillow down the aisle.

Ebree, I doubt Martha Stewart will mind you "stealing" the idea I "stole" from her!
1.gif
I just LOVE old things. I''m thinking maybe I can make the pillow out of something more meaningful. Since the wedding is on my late Grandma''s birthday, I''m trying to find somewhere to wear her wedding band (too small for my sausages), without having the rest of my family know- it''s a long story. My aunt took the ring, but she wasn''t supposed to have it, but she gave it to me, later, since I was her favorite. We''ve since clashed, and now I have the ring (veerrry glad she doesn''t have it any more), but I am NOT giving it to my cousins, they already have a ton of her stuff. What should I do?

AW- LOVE the hanky and ring pillow.
Now just need to check out your dress links...

Sigh...we Canadians miss out on so much - lol
