I think just about everyone around here knows that I have a massive spinel problem. I also seem to have a massive lavender/periwinkle/anything-between-blue-and-purple-and-even-sometimes-pink problem.
A while back (April) I saw something I coveted, and it was far more reasonably priced than I thought it would be, but still more expensive than anything in my jewelry box except my mom's princess cut diamond. So I started selling off my stuff. Some stuff I really did not want to part with. Including a violet asscher spinel from Peter Torraca. I had managed to scrape up about half the price of the coveted item, when I found out it had been sold.
*cue heartbreak music
Luckily the person I had sold the asscher to was a friend and decided that she had no idea how to set it, so she asked me if I wanted to buy it back. I did. Thank goodness!
In the meantime, my husband and I bought our first house and I used a bunch of the money from selling my jewelry to fund things like deposits, painting, decor etc. So I couldn't do a huge expensive custom project like I had wanted to, but that's ok.
So I went to my jeweler with my expensive custom project drawings and asked how much, just for fun. HAHAHA! Just as I figured, way out of budget. So we started to look around the shop. Thank goodness the owner/jeweler there, Darrel, is one heck of a patient man!
Here is the result.
1.63ct violet asscher spinel from Peter Torraca, 6.22x6.23x5.01mm
14kt halo setting from Stockdale Jewelers, size 6.5, not sure on diamond stats! (Obsessed with spinels, not diamonds!)
I have a LOT of pictures. Like, an obnoxious amount. I'll try to limit it, but no promises.
