Hello PSers,

I am almost close to buying this stone but it has a black crystal inclusion on the table which mirrors in the diamond. Its VS1 and has a great ideal scope image and stats so it should be eye clean. Should I be worried about this? Its driving me nuts, I'm fine with it being there, but will I see it in person? I am not against inclusions as long as I won't see it or it impact the brilliance of the diamond.

Here is a video: http://27.109.6.226:8060/video360.aspx?Id=8Nf9UilO YVmJpOz9GHUs6HgMTTjtnhlgB wEIc92Og=

If it's driving you nuts then skip it. It will only make you more crazy as time goes on.

Is this a GIA diamond?

To be honest...I would pass...You mentioned it driving you crazy already...It looks like it mirrors from the top too...

There are lots of diamonds to choose from so I would pass on this. Could be eye clean but I wouldn't want to take the chance. Just my .02!

I have seen that IRL and I was bothered. Not sure if you see it or whether you will be. Maybe you can see it to be sure. Can you return easily?

Yes it's Blue Nile and one of the only stones I was able to get an Ideal Scope for, and it was perfect - no leakage.

I just don't want the hassle of returning the stone but ultimately I would if I could see it.

Did you ask BN and at what distance? I'm not sure its worth the chance if you dont want to have to return.

Seems like these kind of inclusion on the table are usually VS2s. Kind of surprised its a VS1.

Thanks @tyty333 ! They confirmed it was eye clean. I basically have to chose between two diamonds at Blue Nile because my upgrade is there.

This VS1 (HCA 0.9) which I surprisingly got an ASET and Ideal Scope for, no light leakage: http://27.109.6.226:8060/f360v.aspx?Id=8Nf9UilO+YVmJpOz9GHUs6HgMTTjtnhlgB+wEIc92Og=

Or this diamond 1.53 VVS2 (HCA 1.2), which looks great but no Ideal Scope or ASET. I can't pick.

VS1 clarity stones in the 1.5 carat range should not have a dark crystal in the middle of the table.

Pass

Just wanted to mention that you may be able to see the reflections from the side, even if not from top down. Not sure if it will bother you. If your setting covers the side view, then that may not be an issue.

I think I'm being influenced by the concept of mind-clean. That black crystal inclusion would bother me if I could see it.

I'm planning on ordering the VVS2 H 1.53 and viewing it through an ideal scope and sending it back if I'm not happy. @LLJsmom - I think you said that you've send stones back to BN. It is an easy/safe process if the stone is insured when sending it back? Is the insurance out of pocket?

They provided me a label, and I followed the instructions. My understanding is that if I use their label, they handle the insurance. I would talk to BN and confirm. It's always nerve wrecking sending anything of significant value, but I suck it up and remind myself that it is done all the time as this is the way business is done. I did not get any separate insurance.

Are you going to set the diamond upside down?
If yes - pass.
Almost always clever cutters chose to place inclusions high up in the diamond so there is little or no mirroroing face up - but heaps from the pavilion side.
check out H&A's hearts photographed images and you will see what I mean.

There is so much advice about how diamonds face up & tbh i don't get it. I see my diamond from the side far more than face up. I think how a diamond looks from the side facing you (color, clarity etc) is very important .

No one can see inclusions that are this tiny P.
And the idea that inclusions would never be in the table is wrong also. These are very very small little inclusions and the image is taken from a high resolution photo / video that far surpasses the 360 videos that most of you are usually seeing.
No one can see these inclusions with the unaided eye from the topside.
