Hi - new to looking for a diamond for my engagment ring, I've found the diamond with the below stats that is within my budget. I'm worried about the comments section of the GIA report, should I be worried of the comment? I've attached a picture of the diamond.

Insight greatly appreciated.

Shape - Round Brilliant
Carat Weight - 2.05
Color - I
Clarity - VS2
Cut Grade - Excellent
Polish - Excellent
Symmetry - Excellent
Fluorescence - None
Comments - "Clarity Grade is based on clouds that are not shown"

The angles of the cutting will be key for the performance. Can you post the GIA cert or cert number?

You will have to assess the diamond in person to see if the cloud has negative effects on light return characteristics, or have the vendor carefully inspect the diamond and give you the most honest opinion.

I am not really liking this stone. It is cut a bit deep and you only get 8.05mm of spread. I expect at least 8.15mm and upto 8.25mm. You are paying the 2.0c premium, but not getting the 2.0c spread.

As I said, new to looking. Budget is 14-18k; Am strongly considering the below as well. Will ultimately end up mounting on 4-4.5 size ring so thinking of staying below the 2c size in the 1.8-1.99 range. Wouldn't mind you thoughts on the below

those are not well cut. They all have the same issue: cut too deep.

This is a really good one. I would reserve this now, and give yourself 48 hours to think. It does not cost you anything to put this stone on hold.
Amazingly well cut. The spread is almost the same as your original stone, despite weighing 0.13c less. This is as good as it gets for a non-branded stone
Another opion

I'd prefer to stay with BlueNile/James Allen just from what I've read on various site.

I've reserved the one @flyingpig recommended and will keep looking for others on those sites. How can I tell if its cut to deep?

Look for a diamond with the following proportions
Table 54-58
Depth less than 62.3%
Crown 34-35
Pavilion 40.6-40.9

And ask for the Idealscope image of the stone you put on hold.

Thank you, and I've requested the Idealscope image from James Allen.

Might not be the correct place to ask, but is anyone aware of a service would select diamonds that meet a certain criteria to at least narrow them down so I don't end up spending 16k on a diamond thats worth less than that?

There are a few. I cannot really recommend any since I have not used any of them. You can google.

But why would you use such service? The entire point of joining PS is that you get such service for free.

Do you want us to find more stones from JA/BN?

Very true!

Very True!

That would be amazing, I didn't want to be a bother. This search has started to become a lot more complicated than initially anticipated.

Thoughts on 2246891707? I believe it fits the Specs you recommended, working on getting the images now

Yeah, I guess they are overcharging, I'll have a go at bargaining with them, not sure how they'll respond though.

I haven't really looked outside of JA/BN. Will have to keep the search on! have a week or two before I need to finally pull the trigger

Am adding the first and fourth to my seriously considering list, and shall continue to look. Not sure I could justify the $5k price change between the first and the second diamond; I guess the intricacies of the two are lost on me.

PS recommended vendors also include Whiteflash, BrianGavin, HighPerformanceDiamond, GoodOldGold, B2C, and others for more specialized cuts. There is not need for you to limit yourself to BN and JA.

Did you like any of these?

That 1.60 from HP Diamonds is definitly intriguing, I think I'd really need to fall in love with the diamond to spend the top-end of my budget

6262044461 has potential. There are probably couple dozen stones that fit within your requirements and budget. Most are without any photo, so I did not bother to list them all for you. You need a good manified photo plus idealscope/aset images to make a good decision.

Lastly, I do not see any idealscope image. I guess attachment did not work
