VS2 cloud - And internal graining, which is often present but rarely noted on a grading report.
There is a tiny pinpoint but no where does it say this diamond is hazy and milky. Dull as dishwater!
If it were fluorescent it would appear far worse in light with a UV component.
Fluorescence does not make diamonds hazy. Inclusions do. The ones you cant see are the worst offenders.

Can we turn this into a jingle?
Pretty please?
I think that might be the only way to turn this fact into zeitgeist and dispel that ridiculous notion that fluorescence itself is somehow inherently responsible for haziness.

jingle bells, batman smells and so do cloudy diamonds.

fifteen minutes before my next meeting and Google’s rhyme finders

Dashing through a cloud
on a photon going down
light path’s all in shroud
you are going to frown

But it’s not the photon’s fault
youre the one who chose
clouds or grain or twinning wisps
and that’s why you’re morose

Hi Garry,

thanks for posting this. It is really informative! Is it safe to assume the cloud takes up a large portion of the Diamond to make it dull in your example?

I am wondering if clouds should be totally avoided or if small clouds indicated by the grading report are ok. Like this for example. I imagine the cloud in this VS1 report attached wouldn’t impact much at all, but I could be wrong :)455B1F6C-2798-4FDD-BE8C-1E71CE4AD18F.png

The vendor of that diamond has an inclusion plot and shows the stone has about 1,000 tiny red dots all over the stone.
What you posted would be fine.
Graining is quite common. The stone in these images is also a VS2 with no other inclusions - it has the comment Clarity based on Internal Graining (no fluorescence) - and in better quality videos you can usually pick it up. Especially look in the fire flash colored zones like these

When clouds or graining occur with fluorescence the diamond will always be hazy.

Yssie, this is so witty

Just having some fun and made me wonder how Hendrix might express...
Fluoro haze all in my brain
Lately, stones just don't seem the same
Looking funny, but I don't know why
Excuse me while I blame the sky

Fluoro haze all around
Don't know if I'm grading up or down
Am I happy or in misery?

Whatever it is, that haze put a spell on me

would love to see the diamond plot on that thing!
