DDFF (Delgatto Diamond Finance Fund) will use Sarine's Galaxy, DiaExpert and Advisor platforms to assess the future value of a stone when it's been cut, and decide whether it's eligible for financing.

DDFF will also offer the option to cut and polish the rough stone at its cutting facilities in Dubai or New York.

The partnership - Del Gatto 360, Powered by Sarine - is described as "a complete solution for entities in the diamond industry to easily access finance for sourcing of rough diamonds, as well as a full turnkey solution to manufacture and even sell the polished output".

I wonder if this will coalesce with the GCAL merger and allow cutters the capability to plan a best cutting strategy for any given diamond rough to produce more top cuts (GCAL 8X)?

You don't do all that complex scanning etc for grown diamonds.
Planning that way is not for many natural diamond businesses DW.
Most planning is to get the biggest and best for Ct wt, GIA XXX if round, plus best clarity.
8x will mainly work for grown diamonds where weight retention is not an issue as the "rough diamond" is grown to meet the required size for orders / sales demand.

Yeah... wishful thinking on my part.
Carat weight is still priority one for natural cutting.

Honestly I like the fact that not all cuts are perfect, so long as people are educated and the diamonds are priced accordingly.

The machines doing this are incredibly expensive. I have no personal experience with pricing these, however, I have heard the top quality machines are at or near one million dollars each. Perhaps someone here has personal knowledge of this.

The point is, you have to be cutting a LOT of diamonds to afford such machines.

It is certainly easy to spend that on a multi desk set up Wink, and a whole lot more.
Lab grown is simply slice and dice a slab of CVD diamond with lasers. I imagine Lightbox might do that inhouse.
Then send the preformed rough to India to have it polished.
