I have two stones that really do need to be set. I have the time and funds to do it right too. Perhaps these should be in two separate threads, but let's start like this and see which one takes off. Both stones have stories here.
First is SparkliesLuver's garnet cut by Gene: 5.64 ct, 10mm

Then there's the sapphire also cut by Gene: 4.88 ct, approx 10x9x7

The sapphire was set, but it needs a setting with better protection. After getting a tiny chip in a table facet, I removed it and replaced it with a cheaper stone. So now I want to set both of these stones for two RHRs that will not be worn daily. Here they are today.
I'm thinking about a halo with single cut diamonds and a split shank with melee for the sapphire. Maybe something like this but with a different shank.
For the garnet I'm thinking about something with scrollwork and maybe even in sterling, although yellow gold might be more complementary to the red color. I want something that complements and doesn't clash. I like this Etsy shop:

and maybe something like this ring:
Fire away with your suggestions.
