Hi, a newbie here but it''s nice to see some DTers.
wavey.gif
I have tried to find a thread or forum on customer feedback here, but I can''t so forgive me if I post this in the wrong place. can''t do tis at DT because I''m not a full member.

My engagement ring has just arrived....yipeeee.

My sweet man is French speaking and doesn''t enjoy battling to read English + in Europe the internet is really more for reference than purchase - that''s what I''ve seen anyhow. So you can imagine how he felt when I asked if we could buy our engagement ring over the net.

He baulked at first but I felt so confident that the company I''d found, niceice.com, were really honourable and we weren''t going to be able to do better. And bless him, he agreed although for him he was jumping in completely blind - couldn''t read the reviews, the site or even really get talking to Robin, the cool lady who runs the business with her husband Todd.

I''m writing this beacause I was so touched by how sweet they were and how straight forward. It felt really wierd taking on responsibility for such a big purchase. The net thing was all my idea and if anything was to go wrong, it wuld be down to my decision. Stressful at first!

The ring took a while because it was custom made. I have never used a digital camera, but there is always a first time. I would love to post shots because my friends are not really into diamonds and I want to sing from the roof tops!!! Best place for that is here I think.

I''ll tell F.H. that I want to send photos to my parents and he can show me how!

But the ring and the centre diamond are incredable and the 6 week wait worth it all. It''s a non Royal Asscher asscher, if you get me. So a blend between an emerald cut and a real asscher because they have these stones specially cut. There are two trapezoid accent stones and it''s in platinum. 1.17, VVS1, E, exc/exc and ultra ideal sarin measurements. It''s the most beautiful thing I''ve seen, I got it yesterday and I can''t believe it. It''s just so precious on every level.

And most of all because of the trust my dear placed in me when he let me go ahead and buy over the net and also because of how really supportive Robin and Todd were even though they had to deal with a major family crisis in the middle of the purchase. I know I''m plugging them, they deserve all the positivity you can think of. I still feel really emotional.

Anyhow, if you are looking, check them out, they do fancy cuts as well as rounds and are completely obsessed about quality of cut. Place to be guys.

Sorry if too long or put in the wrong forum - I''m still in a tizzy! Photos photos photos needed! I''ll get onto it. I don''t even know how to put the shots stored on a dig cam onto the PC!

Hello laughinggravy. Congratulations! I cannot wait to see your fabulous diamond ring.

Thank you so much.

My parents live in another country and my dearest pal here has just gone through a bust up in her relationship. The last thing I want to be doing is waving a ring her face but I'm fit to bust.

The six weeks felt like forever and I couldn't tell anyone because I didn't want to deal with the raised eyebrow factor of buying over the net, even though I knew they were great.

Are people as negative about buying over the net in the US? because in Europe, in my experience - don't want to offend anyone - but it was really a no-no. I've never even bought a book from Amazon and can't post every where on DT because I don't like the 'credit card details on the net' concept.

So yes, photos when I can and I'm sorry it was such a long post!

I'm so excited about your ring. Are you wearing it now?! You need a pair of sunglasses for that E VVS1!! I'm going to check out niceice.com now. Just love Asscher. So unique and elegant.

Don't know what people in the US think about buying over the net. I live elsewhere!

Well,

buying over the internet in the states is a fully normal practice for about 50% of the population that i deal with. While this may be an overestimate for the whole us as i only can judge on the tiny portion that i know here in minnesota. Some people are afraid of credit card fraud, others don't like paying shipping. however, many people are coming to realize that competition not only helps the buyer, but truly helps the seller as well.

plus we americans love sticking it to anyone we can by skipping out on our taxes.

But the electronic way in conducting business is here and will stay on. In the meantime, for those of us who has the old way of conducting business and also making new ways to do more business will remain strong.

I like to put forth this idea of so called "logistics" - where I have customers who lives merely 15 miles from my business have requested UPS delivery on account the policy of UPS where within 80 miles, the delivery is next day and the cost is minimum. With the busy schedule of the many of my customers (who is also aware of the time value ) to accept their jewelry to be sent and signed and insured. That is one way to cut down cost- By me, by not having the customer in the store (old customers mind you) and by sending them their repair via UPS -- is to make them one step ahead in the use of email, website and also the "handling" and I can also tell you that in the service of gem cut, recutting from Asia to the US via UPS or Federal Express- generally it is only three day at the max. And UPS via my own account generally comes in the next day. Yes, next day or same day service.

This is one way to move things fast and providing the kind of "service" that the customer do enjoy and appreciate.

Can't wait to see pictures!!! I fell in love with an asscher too. I went to seek out the royal asschers, just to compare, but man are they hard to find. Even in Tampa, which is close to where I live, they only have over 2 carat stones, and not even in stock. They were also about $30,000, waaaay out of my league. I found a similar setting on Leon Mege's site as recommended by Mara, asscher with two trapezoids on the side, and it was breathtaking. There is something so perfect about how they compliment the stone's shape. Doesn't detract from it, but just adds to it quietly.

Post those Pics, and congratulations!!!

Congratulations on your engagement ! Those asschers at NiceIce are certainly gorgeous. Looking forward to your pics so HURRY.

Best of luck !

Best Wishes, LaughingGRavy...now can't wait to see pics of the ring!

Congrats to your Fiance as well!
