Wanted!! Whiteflash BGD HPD CBI Diamond SI1+ I+ 1ct+ $20k budget

If you have a $20k budget, are you not also looking on those vendor’s sites for possible diamonds? Or are you just covering possible pre-owned bases in addition to checking those sites?

This is really strange! :Up_to_something: why not just buy the stone from the vendor?

I suspect it may be a scam. Wants somebody to bite and send them a diamond and then they will say it wasn’t received and request money back. Just guessing though, I could be completely wrong on if it is a scam or how it works. I just think it is suspicious.

Looking at <$20k, 1+ ct, I color and SI clarity or better, there are 130+ diamonds on Whiteflash, 65 on HPD, and I believe almost 250 on BGD (site search seems a little screwy so not positive) to choose from.

So yea ... to solely limit oneself to that caliber of diamond ‘pre-loved’ with that budget without the other security, return period, trade-up benefits, etc., that any of those vendors would normally provide by buying directly from them ...

I suppose it's going to be incredibly suspicious when I ask the seller to meet at a bank (or any other public location) of their choosing when the sale takes place  You guys are boggling my mind right now.

People sell things to other people. LT is a real place.

Please move along if you have nothing constructive to offer.

I think it is really constructive. It is quicker, safer and easier to buy direct from the vendor (for everyone involved). You’ll get the stone you want, added benefits of buyback and upgrade programs and no risk that the stone will be damaged, fake, or stolen property.

Of course it's a real place. We use it all the time. We are reacting to you saying that you want an I+ color 1+ct diamond and have 20k to spend, but would rather buy it from a stranger online with zero upgrade or return policies vs choosing one of the literal hundreds online from those super ideal vendors. There's a reason ppl don't usually resell these stones-- they take advantage of the upgrade policies. Given your budget, it makes no sense for you to buy secondhand.

I respectfully disagree.

I promise you that someone out there has wanted or soon may want to turn their stone into cash, not merely store credit. I think they may be very grateful to have me as a potential buyer instead of being forced to accept a jewelry store buyback.

PS The stats posted are minimums. I hope that adding ++++++ makes that sufficiently clear.

Forgive my comments as they are not meant to offend... I can't help myself as this is my professional background. OP said he has cash in hand, which none of the super ideal vendors take (BSA AML laws and jeweler industry regulations) because of the potential for inadvertently integrating criminal or terrorist funds into the economy. I'm not saying OP is doing this, but with cash it's a problem to be solved for if he can't deposit it via normal avenues, and therefore can't wire funds and get all the protections afforded therein.

OP, Good luck finding what you are looking for!

So this must be a F2F deal in cash?

The odds of finding someone in your area that has a preloved super ideal for sale are very very slim.

"Cash in hand" is an expression to say that the assets have been set aside for the purchase. They aren't terrorist funds FFS lol. I love the creativity though! Tell El Chapo I said Hi.

I would travel if the right seller came along. Airplanes fly over this great country every single day.

Again- you would be better purchasing from the vendor, in my opinion.

That aside, good luck!

How does this make any sense??? You'd be throwing money away on airfare, buying a second hand stone with no guarantees/warranty, with no refund policy, no upgrade policy, and with no-where to go if you needed any kind of repair or maintenance on the ring. How does this benefit you in any way???

In addition, it's very strange to have someone come on here and make this kind of nonsensical proposition as their first and only post. Only to argue with people when they give you some sound advice. You can understand why people might think that this was some kind of scam. I know I do.

Ummmm, posts here have been constructive. People have been constructively pointing out that with your budget and with what you are looking for, you would be much better off going straight to a vendor, and they have told you why. There really haven't been any flames or personal attacks, other than pointing out that what you keep coming back and insisting that you want to do doesn't make sense. So I don't see any rules being violated here, or that your posting them is pertinent. What I do see is that you don't like the advice you are getting. That's fine. Don't follow it. But I don't think you are going to find what you are looking for.

Folks, I think everyone is getting wrapped up with this poster's minimum desires, please calm down. I assume he's posted this because he actually wants to see what the best deal is he can get, and that is likely to be secondhand. I am assuming he's looking for something that gets him a below retail deal, which would be a major reason not to buy directly from a vendor.

I have bought a diamond from LoupeTroop before. It was from a PS member who bought a diamond and the engagement didn't happen. Naturally he wanted to sell the stone rather than trade it in. I had him send the diamond to Neil Beaty to appraise for me (I paid less than $100), and he held the stone until I paid the seller. Or Neil can also do escrow service and handle the financial part, and that will cost a few hundred dollars, depending on the sales price. Then Neil sent me the diamond once the seller confirmed his bank had received the funds. In this case, I trusted the seller plus I had safeguards and so did he buy using a respected appraiser as the middle man. This is how I advise to sell jewerly items or diamonds of significant value. It protects both parties at a low cost.
