...a new list keeper. It has been an honor and a privilege to be your list keeper these last months. However, it is time to pass the torch. Time to give the list keeper dust to a new lady. This thread is for anyone who wishes to toss their hat into the ring or for anyone who wants to nominate one of their fellow ladies. Thank you so much for letting me be your list keeper.

How often do you have to check in? I''d potentially be interested, if I knew that when I had to disappear for a few day/a week/whatever to work on my dissertation that''s due in 8 weeks, it''d be ok. I don''t know if there''s some hard & fast rule on how often the list keeper needs to check into the board..?

Hmm, I''m not sure I can do the best job if it''s every couple of days, though! I know I''ve been on here a lot recently, but that''s because I''ve been bad and have been procrastinating terribly.

I would enjoy the job, I''m just not sure I have enough time to do it properly at the moment. I probably should''ve just not said anything until other people had a chance to respond. Maybe other ladies would really like to do it too...?

You''ve got seniority over both Freke and I, I think, m''dear! I don''t know where Freke is on the list, but I''m 17.

Which means, more likely than not, you'll have a chance to do it if you still want to when whoever does it next happily retires.

Ok, jennypoo, looks like you'll be our next listkeeper, unless one of the ladies in spots 1-10 comes a-volunteerin'.

I would do it, but it could be very short lived... Then again if I don''t do it and he doesn''t pop the big question when I think he will I will have to blame it on not having any listkeeper luck!!!

I''m about 98% positive it will be this month for me, so if you need it then I think you should have it! I''ll do whatever anyone wants!

It''s the latter of the two! LOL I don''t have a clue as to when it may happen, so perhaps taking over the list will bring the same good fortune to me as it has our predecessors!

It''s not absolutely crucial though. Like I said, if you would like to do it until your time comes, please do so! I''d be happy to step up next.

It seems that this round is going to be chosen by seniority. And if we do it that way, then it looks like CrookedRock is it. Especially since you got passed up last time. Sorry

But if you want it... the position is yours. Just copy and paste the list into an excel document. You can keep the sticky tab that''s there or make your own. Just remember to message the admins and they''ll unstick the old one and stick the new one. Good luck! May it bring you as much luck as it did me!

Thanks freke, I''m getting anxious! I just realized that this time last year I was on here hoping that he would do it during our trip to Argentina. A whole year later, and I hope I don''t come back disapointed again... At least this time I know he will have the ring! He is going to Leon''s on Wed!!

Hey Gwen...out of curiousity, what is your situation? You are living abroad for school right? I read somewhere else that you might not be ready to be engaged...did I get that right? Does BF want to get engaged or is it you that's stalling? How much longer do you have in school? If you're doing your disseration you should be finishing up in the next year or so, right? Are you planning to come back to the States afterwards?

Sorry if I am asking too many questions, its just that I heart you too, and wanted to know more about one of my favorite LIW!

BTW...Congrats to our new listkeeper CrookedRock! Lots 'o dust your way mama!!!

LOL, never too many questions, Bia my dear! I don''t mind answering them.

Ok, so here''s the deal: J and I have been together for 3 1/2 years. About 3 of those years has been me in the US (Maryland) and him in the UK (Yorkshire). Saw each other hardly at all, sucked, not a fan of long-distance relationships anyway, but international ones?! Bleh.

So! I wanted to go away to grad school before I even met/started talking to J, and England was basically my top choice, so I started looking into grad schools. Applied, and miraculously got into Cambridge, where I am now. So, since September, J and I have been in the same country, but still living 200 miles away from each other.

THIS is why I am gunshy about getting engaged already. Every time we see each other, it isn''t real life--it''s vacation. A holiday. Bills and groceries and chores and work--most of the time, those things aren''t a factor when we are together because the time we have together is precious. Which is lovely and all, but it''s not founded in reality. I don''t want to get married to him, only to find out things that I would have known if we''d been living in the same city all this time. He''s ready to marry me, and has been for a while now (the past year? year and a half?). I am 99% sure we''ll get married, but I don''t *KNOW* it. He''s never lived out of his hometown, he''s never lived on his own, never had to worry about monthly bills really, and I want to make sure we''re a team and handle everything 50/50 before we get married. I don''t want him to think I''m going to pamper and baby him the way his mother does. I''ve said this about a billion times and he says he gets it, but I need to SEE that to be sure. So, we''re waiting.

The plan is that I finish my dissertation by its due date, July 14th (haha, better get writin'', then, Gwen you old bean!

). After that (or before that, if I''m very very lucky) I hope to get some sort of a teaching job in England and work for the year, so J and I can live together like a normal couple! The current plan is that, once we do that, we''ll move to the states in time for me to teach the 2009/2010 school year (since I''ll be teaching here for the 2008/2009 school year). Not sure yet if we''ll get married here in England, or if J will come over to the US on a fiance visa and we''ll get married there. I think (with the help of Addy) it''s cheaper to get married in the US, so we might wait until the fall of 2009 to get hitched, assuming everything goes as expected this coming year.
