Wax model shrinkage?

Curious...So when I received my Wax Mold from DK I noticed it felt "snug," because of this I mentioned that maybe I should size up the band, and he replied to leave the size as is, because the wax shrinks, and it's not a good representation for the size/fit... this led me to another question...I also noticed that the Stone mold inside the ring looked smaller too? Or maybe I just remembed my stone bigger , am I correct in thinking that the entire thing shrinks and it's likely this affected the wax model stone size too? And if it does, any idea of potential percentage? Anyone care to share with pics of side by side?

All I know is that I hope that my ring gets here soon, as its leaving too much time for me to be in my head about "what ifs"

Same. I have had a plastic/ wax before and it was a tighter fit than the metal. I would not rely on it for finger sizing.

This was so helpful and how funny you felt the stone appeared smaller in your mold too! I feel seen, lol!

I don’t think the plastic shrinks, but after it’s cast they polish the metal which removes some of the gold. This means the finished piece is more delicate than the wax. Your stone might look “small” because the opening in the wax for the “stone” would be smaller then the end result to allow for polishing.
