Thiis is becoming a circus sideshow. Original thread for those who don''t know what I''m talking about. THe first closing went horribly. We did not receive the HUD statement until an hour before the closing, were told we had to run tot he bank and get a HUGE cashier''s check for the closing 30 minutes before we had to be there. Got there, ONE HOUR delay in getting started. Got strted found idiotic typo typoe mistakes that could make a difference (worng date, misspelled names), and a HUGE mistake in our mortgage terms that could have cost us TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars.
So second closing - planned for this past wednesday -- right when all this hurricane madness began. My FI and I were in a PANIC -- stressed out about the fact that our new house is in a flood zone, desperate to get to our families and make plans for the hurricane. The title company calls us 2 hours before our appointment to tell us they didn''t receive the mortgage papers. I called My reaaltor (keep in mind there is almost NO cell phone service because everyoine is on the cel phone in panic so every 20 times I try to amke a call, maybe one will go through.) and find out the title comapny called the seller and said they didn''t receive the funds, so they can''t close. ALL LIES!! We had the refernces to prove they were lying. They wanted to go home to their familes and were trying to delay the closing until later. Understandable, but OMG don''t lie about it. They didn''t care that by delaying the closing, WE would have to pay THOUSANDS in fines. They said NOT OUR PROBLEM.
.
I was angry angry angry!!! WE were in a panic over the hurricane, driving all over town trying to figure out what we needed to do, having to work through all this mess instead of being with our families at a time like that. But it may have been a blessing in disguise, we eneded up not clsoing, so we were NOT responsible for any hurricane damage. So sometime this week, we all have to sit down and work out who pays for what, and whether or not we still want the house. BTW, the seller chose this title company.
Sigh. Our first home buying experience. I never pictured it happening like this.
