YAAAAAY!!!!!
About a week ago, I was venting on a post called "Reception site vent." I was bemoaning poor customer service at a place FI and I had thought could truly be "the one."

Well, after all that, we basically started from scratch. We decided that it would mean more to us to have the ceremony at my childhood church, and thus our reception would be in Boston. The other day we both took off from work and met with wedding planners at potential sites.

One hotel was simply amazing! The customer service and graciousness far exceeded our expectations. The manager of the hotel personally popped into our meeting to intoduce himself and offer his services should we need anything. Complimentary appetizers were sent up by the chef, and staff that we walked past had been alerted to our presence, as we were greeted with "You must be Ms_______ and Mr________, congratulations on your engagement! (Mind you, these were people we simply walked past in the hall - we weren''t even meeting with them!) They comped our valet and told us to leave our car there while we visited other sites so that we needn''t worry about parking elsewhere. Additionally, the (beautiful) ballroom can hold more than we need, our first choice date is available, and we liked the wedding planner!

So why haven''t we signed on the dotted line? We are VERY blessed in having this wedding paid for by my parents. My feeling is, they sign the check, they get the final verdict! So, I think I will drive up to Boston this weekend to show my parents the room. Hopefully, I should know for sure after this weekend!

I am just so excited that had to share it with people that would "get it!"
Wooohooooo!

Isn''t it amazing what a little customer service can do? Those little details really make the difference! I''m sure your parents will be just as impressed!

Yay! How exciting! It sounds like everything has worked out for the best. Isn''t it nice when things just fall into place like they''re meant to be?

Sounds like you''ve found a winner!
That''s wonderful.

Scintillating...

How wonderful! I hope your parents like it as much as you do! Have a great weekend and take some pics while you''re there!

It's a go! I am now waiting for the coordinator to send me a contract so we can sign and put down a deposit!

My parents actually liked another hotel a bit better. But that hotel had not treated FI and I as well when we were there alone this week. In truth, the customer service was much better this weekend, but it irks me when I get treated differently (in the same place) when I am with and without my parents. FI and I will be dealing with the hotel during the wedding planning, so the staff needs to treat us as well as they treat my parents.

My Dad looked at my face in the ballroom of the hotel that treated us so incredibly well and said " I see that smile. Let's make this a done deal." I almost started to cry I was so happy!!

Excuse me while I do a happy dance!

Awww. That''s wonderful Munchkin!
It''s truly a Fairytale ballroom!
So happy for you.

Totally agree with you about the parental effect on customer service - it''s not acceptable!

You didn''t ever post pictures of your ring girl!
Get on that! STAT!

Scintillating...

Scintillating,
I have been avoiding doing so because I don''t feel like any of the pictures I''ve taken do it justice. (Of course, I may not be the most objective person in the world regarding my ring!) I haven''t a clue about how to take a decent picture. I went to the posts on how to photograph e-rings, and tried to follow the directions. The photos I''ve come up with are pretty blurry. I took them at night with minimal light because I just kept getting light flashes in the photos in the daylight! Any further suggestions are welcomed!
I''m going to try to put the pics I have right in this post. We''ll see if it works! My ring is from the 50s. It is an RB set in four triple prongs. It is flanked by two melee sized RBs set north and south of one another and surrounded by milgraining. On the outside of those is a baguette and then another melee size RB. Outside of that is some detail in the platinum.

Ok. That definitely didn''t work. I have the photos saved to a file. Any advice as to how to upload them would be appreciated! I am going to look around Pscope to see if this has been dicussed before.

munchkin - name your file something unique, PS doesn''t allow photos w/the same name to be uploaded.

by the way, congrats on the new site... I''m so relieved that you went w/a place w/good service, I think that makes all the diff in the world!!!
