I'm not too sad/surprised. We'd just come from the farmers market and there was a crafts fair going on in the street so the store was busy. All 3 sales people were with customers so we waited, and waited, and waited, looked around the whole store, saw at least 4 rings I wanted to try on and then waited by the one we both really liked (there was another couple with a sales woman at the main bridal display). After 20-30 minutes we left, then someone else left and their sales guy gave us the sad-puppy look out the window as we walked away. We'll be back next week, unfortunately they're closed on Sundays.
We're looking for an engagement ring that:
-won't look like weird on my size 4.25 finger, on my little baby sized hands
-has a low profile and nothing that'll get caught too easily on things (I'm a TOTAL klutz)
-has a total cost under $4K
-kinda unique, but something that I'll always love (AKA not trendy)
-will sit flush with an un-adorned gold band (yeah, we're semi-traditional Jews)
-most likely not white gold, pink (not rose, that's too red) gold looks AWESOME on my olive-y skin tone, yellow gold does too
-has a stone that is antique or mined in North America (preferably in Colorado, where we live)
-and maybe even made out of recycled gold (a la .brilliantearth.com)
-oh, and major bonus points if we can somehow fit the color purple into the design somehow
They were just too busy today. I can't wait to go back next week! We're both excited to start this processes.
No, we're not officially engaged yet, but I do have a dream date picked out for the wedding! (We've been living together for 2 years and a lot of my friends are getting married, we've caught the bug.)
These are some things know I like:
the movado 1/4 bezel setting (though it's a little wide for my taste)
floating settings (false-tension settings)
cushion cuts.....
shared prong settings in the band
dainty/delicate stuff
not-so-simple-solitaire settings
things I don't like:
chunky/heavy looking settings
milling/engraving
really high settings
cathedral settings
knife edges
busy-looking things in general
Anyone have any suggestions on jewelers in Boulder, CO?
Sorry for the long rambling post. It's 1 AM and for some reason I'm still awake.
