Does anyone else feel a little sad about having to wear their wedding band on a separate hand? I was SO EXCITED about my ring design, that I didn''t really think about what a band would look like with it. Now that I''ve had time to go over my options, I''ve realized that my ring would look to chunky with a band next to it. So I''m going to have to wear my band on my other hand.

Has anyone ever seen a ring like mine with a band on the same hand? Any pics of what this would look like? My jewler said he would make one to fit my ring, but I am really afraid it will look like chunk monster ring.

What are YOU doing for a band in you have a similar situation?

Thanks all.

hi tryesar, i''m in the same situation which isn''t surprising being that we have very similar style rings! i just can''t think of how a wedding band would ever look good with our rings. (or at least mine--it''s set wayyy to low to have anything sit next to it without a ginormous gap.) and i really don''t personally like w-bands that are curved to fit around the e-ring.

but don''t be sad! this is a cool opportunity to pick out an awesome w-band (or two or three to stack!) for your right hand. you can get something totally unique and different, and since it''s your right hand, you don''t have to worry about picking a style that "matches" your e-ring or about picking something understated so as not to overwhelm the e-ring.

what about a gorgeous shared prong eternity band like the ones people have been getting recently from signedpieces?

this is what i''m currently thinking about for my right hand w-band.

i would LOVE a twist-style pave band like this (this one is from estatediamondjewelry.com, but i''m definitely having my man leon make mine for me), stacked between two thin pave or bead set bands about the same width as the shank on my e-ring (2mm). whaddya think?

I couldn''t agree more. You two have rings that must stand alone. Personally I would get something chunky for the right hand.

actually the bands on the last one weren''t really right--THIS is more what i''m thinking. i love it! and see, i could never have put something like that twist band with my e-ring . . .

oooh, that sounds grogeous! My sister has a lucida setting and has the top channel set band on there. i love the braided style - - very pretty, and I bet it''s very SPARKLY! They would look really cool together - i''d love to see that.

I want a 5 stone band - the FI will have a heart attack if I try to spend to much. I have my recently married friend purposley mention the price of their bands in front of him, so he "gets" the idea of how much a band is - he thinks it''s $99 - i was thinknig more like $2000. HA!

How much do you think a 5 stone with .20 stones would be?

I''m also considering an antique band (with diamonds, of course). But I have no idea where to look - i want to look IN PERSON, not online, for antique.

I HATE a gap between rings - it would drive me crazy.

And I''ve never even seen a ring like ours with a band on the same hand.

a 5-stone band sounds great. no idea about pricing, but have you checked out signedpieces.com? they may have some listed there.

as for antique stores, where are you located?

PS--are you planning to keep the e-ring on your left hand and put the w-band on your right? or switch the e-ring to your right and put the w-band on your left? i was planning to do the former but people keep telling me to do the latter cause the w-band is "supposed" to be on your left hand. what does everyone think? i think it would just be weird to have my e-ring on my right hand. i don''t want people to think it''s a right hand ring i bought for myself or something--i want everyone to know it''s my engagement ring!

Go in the SMTR thread and there's someone that has two custom bands that have a gap in them so that it is open where the head ofthe ring is and the diamond bands fit up against the band.

Reena- I''m in NY - in Westchester County. I think you live in the city, right? I was down on the jewlery district and it looked like they had some nice antique pieces in some of the windows.

I checked out signed pices - love their stuff! I''m looking for white gold - so maybe i''ll be able to swing the 5 stone in that case. hmmmmm.

yes, there are a TON of places in the diamond exchanges on 47th street. there''s also a bunch of little antique stores scattered around the city.

check out THIS link. it''s a great resource.

You know what band i TOTALLY LOVE? K-Mom''s - only not curved - so it would stand alone on my right hand.

Oh, and re: the right hand/left hand thing - for some reason my right hand ring finger is bigger than my left - so i will probably keep my e-ring on my left hand - plus, i have really gotten used to it there - i can''t imagine it anywhere else!

My waaaaay waaay future plan, unbeknownst to my fiance, is to eventually have my e-ring become a right hand ring, and sport a 2 carat on my left hand some day. I think he would totally be insulted if i ever told him that - so it is only a dream!

Hi Guys, I have the same problem. Although some really tiny bands sit next to mine okay but with a gap. Anyway if you wear the rings on two different hands which one goes on th right hand and which one goes on the left?

A place that has nice bands is www.antiqueengagementrings.com I just started looking there and have already found three styles that I like.

Hmm, but my right hand is already reserved for my other right hand rings and some of them are chunky and would never go with something delicate. I''m going to just have to go with a tiny band and alternate or something.

innerkitten - first of all, I LOVE your ring - i love antique jewlery, and I totally know who you are by your ring! (You know how you just KNOW some people by there ring on here?)

LOVE IT!

I know what you mean about right hand rings – it seems like I’m running out of fingers!

Anyway, I would totally get a nice antique band to go with your ring - i know it will be hard to find - you probaby have to dig around like crazy, but you''llfind a perfect one - or ou could even get one made. I was jsut at this store at lunch in Tarrytown, NY that has the nicest antique bands that would go so well with your ring!

I have a shared prong 5 stone band that a local jeweler made for me. If you do a search for "fine line by le" (or something like that) you should be able to find it. I wear it alone on my right hand and I have a very thin pave band for my wedding band (the diamonds were rubbing against the prongs of my e-ring). I think someone (Leota maybe?) had something similar made by Whiteflash, so you could do a search for that too. Good luck to you!

Edited to add this link to some pictures:

I said that it was a carat total weight, but it's actually 1.25.

I had a 5 stone ring made by a jeweler online. I can give you the name if you would like. It was about $1000 in platinum, total carats .25 and G color, what he said was "ideal" cut but there''s no cert for those tiny diamonds. Anyways, it saved me about $300 from retail. See pic from my avatar. Oh yeah, it''s all prong set with no "windows" beneath. I had to have it remade bc with the windows it was too high.

Yeah, it wouldn''t work very well, but then, the ring itself could have been twisted !

Regarding where to wear the wedding band, first let me say it''s a personal preference and you should do what you want.

Personally I''m traditional and will only wear my wedding band on my left hand, it would feel weird to me to wear it on my right hand. But then again, I didn''t have a wonderful engagement ring like you guys so the problem of not being able to wear a wedding ring on my left hand was never an issue....hmmmmmmm this is a dilema...but a nice one to have

My question is, if you already have a nice right hand ring, and then get married but can''t wear a wedding band with your e-ring, will you wear your wedding band on your right hand everyday, or not wear it at times?

ooooooooh!!! those ideas are great !!! I am having the wedding band blues myself ......but it is a different kind of blue, it is that I don''t have the matching wedding band. LOL! Everyone keeps asking me when I am getting married LOL!!! (strangers) i tell them I am already married "where''s your wedding band" is the follow up question LOL!!!!

sooooooooooooooooooooo...i have to get the wedding band!!

Traysar, Thank you.
Libster, I''d like to be able to wear mine together or apart.

Recently I tried on a 10 stone ring and then flanked it with two super thin pave bands, one on each side. BEAUTIFUL! I am dying to add that set to my collection at some point in the future. When all 3 rings were sitting flush together, it looked like one big chunky sparkly beautiful ring.

I would be sad to have to wear a wedding ring on the separate hand. When we were looking at rings way back when, I made sure whatever design I got was created to sit a wedding band flush against it. I think alot of gals don''t think about the w-ring when they are doing the e-ring....jewelers should have an auto reminder or something that pops up every hour or calls them. Hee.

How about this one? It looks similar to yours.

oh - that is NICE! The bad part is that my ring is built so that it does not allow a band to sit flush with it - it''s not like the endless love by ritani - i did not like the way that the endless love "sprung up" to accomodate a band - it looked too modern.

*bump*

I wonder what everyone finally decided. I don't mind the gap between my rings - I've just realized that my fingers are too short for both on the left. I've seen left and right-hand wedding bands in Europe but here in the US it's mostly the right.

When I was having my diamond put in a setting (which has a very wide band) I asked the jeweler, but wait, what band could I wear with this? being afraid I couldn't fit any more height to my finger. He said I have seen many women choose a ring so bold that any band would take away from its 'look.' In which case he said mostly they choose for the e-ring to stand for both. I could fit a thin eternity band with mine but am still considering just not wearing one. I guess at the ceremony he would just place my e-ring on my finger.
