hi all,

just curious to see how much time prior to the wedding did you have your wband and how hard was it not wear it with your ering!?!

So I was a slacker. We got my wedding band custom made and I think (if I remember correctly) I only got it back 6 weeks or so before the wedding.

I think I started TOO early... I''m getting married in September and have already gotten 2 rings that I decided weren''t the "perfect" ring. One was non-returnable so I''m already out $900...

I ordered mine several months before the wedding, and it was veeerrry hard not to wear it! However, I''m glad I ordered it when I did given the crazy increases in metal prices.

our wedding is in december and i figured that i was going to have a really hard time finding a band that went well with my ering (super thin pave band with emerald cut/halo setting w/ miligrain, so i started this past month looking. luck would have it that the first one we ordered was a perfect match! so i have mine....and may or may not have been wearing it since saturday

Wedding band - January, wedding - June.

But then I requested a second wedding band this year for Christmas. So, that will be two years in a row that I''ve gotten a wedding band for Christmas. Maybe next year we can get something for the other hand?

That is so a me thing to do LOL

I would so do that!!!

I bought a wedding band 18 months out (I know, I know) and ended up not loving it. I took too long to figure out that it for sure wasn't "the one," so now I'm in the midst of trying to sell it (which I thought would be easier than it's turning out to be).

I'm starting the custom process in May for my actual wedding band, and the wedding's in October. I think it'll be done in July, probably 2.5 months in advance. If I kept it in my possession, it would be IMPOSSIBLE not to wear it. I plan to wear it for an hour when I first get it, to make sure I love it, then give it to FI to hide.

haha, i knew i''m not the only one who''d go crazy trying not to wear the rings together!

musey, what is your custom band going to look like?

2.2mm-ish platinum with an engraved scroll design, from green lake jewelry works. That is the current plan, anyway! We''re visiting the studio during a Seattle trip in May, and that will be my first opportunity to see a band like that next to my engagement ring. I''m crossing my fingers for it to look fantastic, because it really would be ideal from the standpoint of what I want out of my ring (visual interest BUT no stones, as I want a 24/7 band).

We chose ours (B&M store) maybe three weeks before our wedding...mine (1.38 ctw PC, two rows of invisible set G-H VS1-2), was NOT what I had envisioned for a band...I wanted something like Beverly K. floral, antique-y looking band but our jeweler strongly discouraged me from it, saying that that look was "in fashion now" but wouldn''t be ten years from then...argh. I wish I would''ve gone to see him sooner and had something made. Of course, in 2003 I hadn''t yet found PS, if I had I know I would''ve ended up with something more along the lines of a Beverly K. or an actual BK. However, I get lots of compliments in everyday life on my wedding band, it''s very sparkly, plus it is super streamlined and lies flat against my finger and does complement my solitaire, so I''ve been 90% happy with it for the last 4.5 years.

DH chose his the same day, I can''t remember what designer it was, not Artcarved, not ScottKay but very SK looking, braided design in 18k white gold, which promptly turned yellow on his hand. He got an alternate band to wear while traveling (his line of work required him to golf and be out in the sun quite a bit, but that WG one quickly turned yellow as well)...then he lost the first one, had the second re-rhodiumed, lost that one, bought another one just like it, and then we had the original re-rhodiumed. Now he has two and he rarely wears either.

We''ve decided that for our 5th anniversary coming up that I will buy him a plain platinum band since his skin turns WG yellow so quickly, and rhodium plating doesn''t last long against his skin.

Wow! That was a lot of info, sorry! I get way too talkative here sometimes.

We had our rings custom made 11 months in advance! I wore mine at home (when FI wasn''t there... he didn''t want me to wear it

) for 2 weeks until we put them in my parents'' safe box at the bank. Since they''re locked up it doesn''t really drive me crazy. But the wedding is getting closer (4 months today!) and I can''t wait!

Even with all the buying and returning and deciding, I still had my wedding band over 8 months prior. We''re getting married in September, and yes, it''s really hard not to wear them together!!

Hah! The same thing happened to me. I''m on the third ring (third time''s a charm) and I pretty much lost $900 in the process, as well. Yeesh. Deciding can be so hard...

I was only engaged on like February 12th, with our wedding already scheduled and paid for in Vegas on March 9th.

I think I ordered our wedding bands on February 13th, and had them by the 17th or so.

I know - I cut it so close!

Our wedding was in September of last year, I got my eternity in July, but had it remade (from full eternity to half eternity) in August. DH didn''t decide on a band until maybe 2 weeks before the wedding. I had bought a plain band to wear as well and that came the day before the wedding. I ended up returning it, anyway. Since the wedding I''ve bought 2 additional wedding bands and have my eye on a third, so the wedding band shopping never ends.
