Wedding band shopping

We went out looking this weekend, and I found a band I absolutely LOVE. Unfortunately, I can''t find a picture of it, but it''s THIN, has a curve to it so it fits around my low setting, and it has seven ITTY BITTY diamonds, or at least I think it''s seven. It''s 1/7 carat told weight, so that tells you how delicately thin it is. I just adore it. The diamonds aren''t FABULOUS, but they throw down enough sparkle, and make a nice match with my diamond, I think, anyway. I do hope to find out about getting the last diamond on either end of the row taken off and emeralds put in their place. I don''t know how that works, but we''ll see. I can''t really visualize it, but I do think it''d be cute to have my boy''s birthstone in it.

Happily, Paul, Mr. Traditional, has found a wedding band he likes, actually a couple of them. And they''re not just PLAIN. It was so much to watch him look around, ask questions, then try them on. He''s decided he likes white gold primarily, I think. It seems his favorite for now is the wider band, 5.5 mm, in white gold, with a hammered texture in the middle.

So, I''m excited that we have ideas and that my boy liked looking at rings. He was all cheesy smiley saying, "we''re getting married!" to the salespeople as they came up. He also liked asking what the qualilty of diamonds were in the bands I looked at, then questioning some more. He felt all intelligent, I do believe.

It was so much FUN! Paul wants to look again this weekend, so he can decide on what''s "ultimately the best" for him. Heehee.

The band Paul liked looked a lot like this, only I think the hammering was more pronounced in the band he tried on, and it appeared to be thicker, not so much wider, but thicker as in sturdier. IF that''s a word.

Fisher, his WB choice is great! We are good friends with a couple in which the male half wears a WB similar to the one Paul likes--it is very handsome! It''s kind of "rugged" and beautiful at the same time. He''s the only one in our circle who has one like it, and I think all the other guys are a little bit envious that they didn''t pick that style first, as we all got married within a couple years of each other, lol!

I think the idea of using Paul''s birthstone in your WB is a great one! There are lots of eternity bands out there that incorporate channel set emeralds, but unfortunately I haven''t seen a curved one that would suit your needs...maybe you could find a jeweler who would make one for you, or of course your idea of two emeralds on either end of the diamonds would make a fine choice as well. Sounds like the two of you had a fun shopping trip--WB shopping is exciting, and something you both can enjoy!

He says he''s going to go looking again tonight, to see if anything else catches his eye. He also liked this band that was squared off on the edges, the part that goes around his finger, which really surprised me. That''s SO not traditional! He''s really liking the process of getting ideas, especially since he initially said he didn''t know how he felt about wearing jewelry, because it seems rather "feminine" to him. Heehee. He''s enjoying it a lot and it''s so cute that he now looks forward to wearing the band.

We''re going looking again this weekend. I think I''m sold on the one I loved, but I am going to ask if it''s possible to put an itty bitty emerald in place of the diamond on either end of the row. Paul is still waivering as to what he really likes, "for life," as he put it. Fun, fun!!

Your shopping trip sounds like fun! Doing something like that together would make me very happy too, especially seeing how much he''s enjoying it too. I like that band! As a matter of fact, I''m saving that picture away to see if my bf would like it. Great choice! Your band sounds very pretty too. Glad this has been a fun time for you both.
